Salary Range

$125,000-$135,000 annually

Principal Responsibility

Under the direct supervision of the Chief Operating Officer, the Director of Community Safety Services & Social Enterprise is responsible for the overall administration, operations, budgeting, supervision, and planning for Community Safety Services (CSS). They oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of CSS in accordance with the St. Anthony Foundation (SAF) Statement of Values and Operating Principles.

Responsible for gathering, analyzing, presenting, and recommending business opportunities that provide a need for clients while supporting the foundation's work and efforts. Evaluates past and current business data working closely with stakeholders to identify goals, best practices, and other active methods for gathering and analyzing data related to the needs of the specific organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Community Safety Services

Responsible for providing a safe and secure environment for staff, clients, volunteers, and other visitors at all remote and established locations.
Responsible for managing and enforcing all SAF program procedures and guidelines with Program Managers.
Responsible for the immediate, accurate reporting and documentation of safety incidents and medical emergencies, including daily occurrences and incidents.
Responsible for the recruitment, training, hiring, discipline, evaluation, and termination of all work unit staff.
Prepares and implements standard operating procedures, guidelines, and training for violent and crisis situations, ensuring these situations are handled appropriately.
Develops and recommends an annual budget and is responsible for controlling and monitoring daily work unit expenses.
Oversees work unit inventory, supplies, and equipment, ensuring all is available and updated.
In an emergency or hazardous situation that poses a serious threat to the safety of employees, clients, volunteers, and/or visitors, have the authority to take appropriate action (e.g., closing services) and inform the appropriate person in charge to take the required actions.
Responsible for all scheduling of CSS staff, ensuring each location has adequate coverage.
Develops, coordinates, maintains, tracks, and monitors the foundation’s radio system to ensure observance of proper usage guidelines.
Assists in general foundation safety, fire safety, emergency response, and evacuation plans.
Assists and involves the work unit staff in education and awareness efforts concerning trauma-informed care, systems, and cultural humility.
In cooperation with the Programs Director and the Management Team, provides information and recommendations and assists in long-range planning for future services development and delivery.
Represents the CSS work unit to the Chief Operating Officer, SAF, outside agencies, and the community. Acts as a liaison between SAF and the immediate Tenderloin community regarding safety and community engagement. This includes being an active member of community groups, police meetings, etc.
Adheres to the guidelines of the SAF Safety Program and oversees the Safety Program for CSS.

Social Enterprise

Develops and maintains CSS Workshops for partner organizations.
Provides information and recommendations to SAF, outside contract managers, and directors to facilitate safety and safety operations; participates in problem-solving sessions with work units or outside organizations.

Creates, develops, provides, or coordinates system training, materials, and other educational tools.
Determines how changes to the project will affect the business and systems and prepare to address the changes via communication, training, and discussion.
Negotiates plans and timeframes, ensuring that clients understand the anticipated result, develops and communicates detailed specifications for implementation.
Collaborates with the Project Manager to ensure the client’s needs have been met.
Determines a need and works with external partners to develop contracts with external partners as needed.

Teamwork

Supervise and train staff to courteously assist clients by giving information, responding to questions, and efforts to access services.
Leads, assists, and supports in educating other foundation staff about safety guidelines and proper methods of handling crises while awaiting the arrival of CSS staff.
Manage stress and pressure situations calmly and responsively.
Consistently demonstrate integrity while working and representing St. Anthony’s.
Practice direct, respectful, open, and honest communication with colleagues.
Demonstrate collaboration and cooperation with coworkers, management, and the community.

Minimum Qualifications

Three plus years’ progressively responsible management experience, including management and supervision of direct services programs; non-profit experience preferred.
Experience with Social Enterprise desired, with emphasis on business development.
Extremely proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software programs.
Excellent management skills with the ability to lead, facilitate, motivate, and organize.
Ability to adapt to change.
Excellent customer service skills.
Excellent interpersonal, listening, oral and written communication, and conflict de-escalation and resolution skills.
Excellence in public speaking, selling, and presenting material is required.
Excellent planning, organizational, and facilitation skill.
Ability to effectively develop and manage budgets and resources.
Ability to handle emergency and pressure situations.
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Excellent supervisory and team-building skills.
