Overview

The Development Officer at Touro University California plays a crucial role in advancing the university’s mission by supporting fundraising initiatives, managing donor relationships, and fostering alumni engagement. Reporting to the Vice President of University Advancement, this position requires a proactive and organized professional with a passion for philanthropy and collaboration.

Responsibilities

Fundraising and Donor Relations:

Cultivate and steward a portfolio of donors and prospects, focusing on gifts of $25,000 and above.
Identify and research prospective donors, maintaining a targeted list for major gift solicitation.
Collaborate with University Advancement to develop and execute solicitation strategies for individuals, corporations, and foundations.
Prepare compelling proposals, reports, and donor correspondence to secure and sustain funding.
At the direction of the VP of University Advancement, train and assist senior leadership in cultivating relationships with donors and prospects.
Ensure timely and personalized donor acknowledgments that align with Touro's messaging and values.

Database and Reporting:

Manage donor and prospect data in Raiser’s Edge, ensuring accuracy and up-to-date records.
Generate reports to analyze giving trends and support strategic decision-making.
Track and report on key performance metrics related to fundraising goals.

Event Coordination and Engagement:

Plan and execute donor-centric events, including galas and dinners, in partnership with the University Advancement.
Collaborate with alumni affairs to design programs fostering alumni engagement and support for university initiatives.
Serve as a point of contact for event logistics, ensuring a seamless experience for attendees.

Marketing and Communication:

Assist in developing fundraising materials, including brochures, newsletters, and digital content, including materials that can be used by senior leadership in soliciting donations.
Contribute to the social marketing strategy by implementing philanthropy campaigns and direct mail initiatives.
Partner with the Communications team to create presentations and promotional materials for donor outreach.

Administrative Duties:

Support budget planning and monitor expenditures related to development activities.
Maintain comprehensive documentation of fundraising strategies and donor engagement processes.
Provide leadership and mentorship to volunteers and staff participating in advancement initiatives.
Perform other duties as assigned to meet departmental goals.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in development, fundraising, or related fields.
Proficiency in Raiser’s Edge or similar donor management software.
Exceptional organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

This is a full-time position based on the Touro University California campus. Occasional travel and evening/weekend work may be required for events and donor meetings.
