Advocates is seeking a creative and compassionate Mentor (DSP/1:1 support staff) to work with gifted individuals with developmental disabilities. In this critical role, you will support them in learning key independent living skills, teach them skills to communicate and interact with others within their community, and assist them in experiencing social, recreational, and physical fitness opportunities in their communities. The ideal candidate for the DSP position will have effective communication and leadership skills, patience, and strong organizational skills. Please respond with a resume or summary of experience.
Candidate must possess a keen sense of attention to detail, especially when electronically logging each day's time, mileage, and service documentation. DSP must have a valid email address.
Hours and days of work:
Flexible schedules (may vary depending on the individual)
Full-time opportunities may be available.
Pay rate: $18-20 per hour when providing direct support (depending on the individual). The hourly rate for indirect/training is $15.50 per hour.
Location: Oneida and Rome, NY areas
