The Bilingual Program Coordinator for the Youth Gambling Awareness Program is vital to the YMCA of Greater Toronto's initiative aimed at reducing youth problem gambling through education and prevention strategies. Responsible for leading curriculum development and overseeing the provincial outreach strategy, including online platforms and social media, the coordinator engages school boards, higher education institutions, and youth service providers. This role involves facilitating workshops, ensuring contractual obligations are met, and conducting research on trends and program activities. By building strong relationships with Youth Outreach Workers and local agencies, the coordinator enhances program delivery and supports staff development. This position offers a unique opportunity to create a meaningful impact on community well-being and youth engagement.
In this role, you will:
- Develop and implement effective outreach strategies to engage school boards, higher education institutions, youth service providers, and the local community, and meet monthly presentation targets.
- Deliver and facilitate educational workshops for youth (ages 8-24), teachers, health professionals, and other agencies and organizations working with youth.
- Maintain accurate records and statistics related to activities undertaken and outcomes achieved, and provide monthly reports.
- Plan and execute provincial youth engagement and community involvement projects.
- Establish and maintain regular communication with Youth Outreach Workers, their local supervisors, and partner YMCA associations across the province, providing ongoing support to ensure successful YGAP delivery and compliance with contribution agreements and contract requirements.
- Resolve challenges related to curriculum delivery, staffing, performance management, and achieving targets outlined in contribution agreements.
- Coordinate recruiting, hiring, coaching, and supporting YGAP Youth Outreach Workers to ensure contract targets are met.
- Provide training to new YGAP staff and organize an annual training event to enhance staff professional development.
- Develop, manage, and monitor quality benchmarks.
- Collaborate with program staff and other coordinators to develop program innovations and new directions.
- Prepare funder reports to review program and participant outcomes at specified times, such as the completion of Annual Reports.
- Coordinate program delivery across the province in conjunction with the funder, provincial staff team, and local YMCAs.
- Build relationships with key community agencies and define and implement collaborative projects to raise gambling awareness in the community.
- Support the development and submission of proposals for conferences, grants, etc.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
You bring:
- Post-secondary education in Social Services, Youth Counselling, Public Health, Education, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 2 years of experience with outreach activities and strategies.
- Verbal and written fluency in French is required.
- Access to a vehicle and a valid G license is required.
- Experience working with youth in a Harm Reduction framework is preferred.
- Experience coordinating public health, prevention, and awareness activities, with a strong understanding of addictions and harm reduction principles; knowledge of gambling issues is an asset.
- Previous experience in program management and staff management is an asset.
- Ability to work efficiently with a high degree of independence and navigate ambiguity.
- Well-developed interpersonal and relationship-building skills; ability to establish rapport and communicate effectively with members, staff, and volunteers.
- Excellent written communication skills.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and database management.
- Flexibility with working hours, including occasional weekends and evenings, as well as the ability to travel and stay overnight when required.
- Excellent understanding of diversity, inclusion and equity including the ability to identify and address barriers, work effectively with diverse stakeholders, and integrate equity into program design
