Description

St Augustine Youth services is a well-known and respected organization that has been providing residential therapeutic care to boys for over 30 years. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience working with youth and will be familiar with evidence-based practices for supporting at-risk youth.

What you'll do:

Providing a role model and mentor for staff and children.
Possesses the ability to present self in a positive, professional manner to the children and other agency personnel. Being a team member.
Exhibits the desire to work cooperatively as member of a team for the benefit of the children and the organization.
Ability to provide structure. Possesses the ability to be consistent in providing discipline to each child, as prescribed by the program and the individual treatment plan.
Ability to provide a home-like environment.
Possesses the ability to make the SAYS residential environment as near to a home as possible.
Ability to supervise/train staff. Possesses the ability to train staff on the Policies and Procedures of SAYS.
To the Executive Director and Program Director.
For working at prescribed times, as agreed upon with the Program Director.
For following all policies and procedures of the organization.
For monitoring the teaching of daily living skills and behavior management by the houseparents, directed by the Individual Treatment Plan.
For filling in as a Professional Houseparent when needed.
For ensuring coverage and that child-to-staff ratio is met at all times.
For ensuring that houseparents are following policies and procedures and reporting problem areas to the Program Director.
For ensuring the reporting of all incidents to the Program Director.
For the supervision and evaluation of Professional Houseparents with the Weekend Supervisor and Program Director.
For the resolution of problems between staff members with the Program Director.
For ensuring that Medicaid, state and CARF requirements are met.
For providing or coordinating training to staff, including CPI, and First Aid/CPR.
For coordinating or participating in activities that will enhance the child’s education, cultural diversity and community involvement.
For assisting the Program Director with case management duties for the New Directions (Pre-Independent Living) youth.
For properly documenting all activities in each individual child’s file, including responses and problem behaviors, strengths, and weaknesses.
For intervening in problem behaviors at the group home with crisis intervention.
For maintaining accurate records and written documentation of all work activities in the manner prescribed by the Executive Director and the Policies and Procedures.
For reporting facility or grounds maintenance issues to the Chief Operating Officer to ensure the safety of the residents.
For monitoring and documenting consumption of medication and ensuring that the proper medication and dosage is always available.
For performing other duties as required.
For maintaining QA documentation.

Qualifications

A minimum of a high school diploma or GED and five years’ experience in working with children.
The ability to work cooperatively as a member of a team for the benefit of the children and the agency.
The ability to interface in a professional manner with the community.
The ability to communicate effectively, to other members of the treatment team, difficulties children may be experiencing.
Two years’ experience working with youth who have mental and/or behavioral health issues, preferably in a residential setting, or a bachelor’s degree in related mental health field.
Valid Florida Driver’s License
History free of offenses listed on the Affidavit of Good Moral Character
