Catholic Charities is currently looking for a Cook at My Brother's Keeper. The Cook performs daily cooking and meal preparation of large batches of food that will be served to our clients in a fast-paced environment. Position coordinates the overall daily operation of the kitchen, clean, assist other cooks and staff, and deliver food while following food health and safety procedures. Work schedule: Saturday - Wednesday 7am - 2pm
My Brother’s Keeper (MBK) is a Multi-faceted Community-Based Resource Center in West Baltimore that provides a Daily Meal serving Program 7 days a week to the Irvington Community. Job Placement, Case Management Services, Behavioral Health Services, Substance Use Services, Health Clinic, Benefits Eligibility Services, GED Program, Expungements, Computer Literacy, PNC Mobile Bank and ATM Access, and Monthly Workshops are provided to assist guests with the achievement of self-sufficiency.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare and serve meals in conjunction with volunteers.
- Plan menus, ensure apportionments and good nutrition, and ensure utilization of donated food.
- Train, coach and monitor kitchen volunteers, and ensure food safety compliance.
- Receive and properly store food donations.
- Clean kitchen areas and equipment.
- Maintain records and statistics.
- Assist Supervisor with food inventory.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Medium work that includes moving objects up to 50 pounds.
- Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
