World Central Kitchen (WCK) is seeking a Field Financial Operations Specialist to provide a broad range of operations, finance, and accounting support in the field during emergency relief activations under challenging conditions. Part of a high performing and highly motivated finance team, the successful candidate must possess a high level of reliability, precision, and attention to detail, thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume, and dynamic environment, and have the demonstrated ability to be effective both independently and as part of a team.
This role will report primarily to the Senior Manager, Field Financial Operations and Compliance as well as to the Response Director while in the field. This role requires a sincere commitment to WCK’s mission, the ability to travel immediately to relief activities worldwide, approximately 70% travel, the availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, and the flexibility to account for time zone differences. This role is a full-time exempt position.
Key Responsibilities
- Deploy as needed to a Disaster/Emergency area as the Finance representative.
- Support WCK Relief teams with their finance-related needs while deployed.
- Accountable to ensure field finance activities are executed as per WCK standards.
- Effectively organize, facilitate, and coordinate field finance tasks and activities directly and remotely.
- Efficiently collaborate with the onboarding of vendors, restaurants, and contractors.
- Effectively manage field time sheets, cash ledgers, and debit cards – including both executing transaction entry and ensuring team accountability.
- Work with the finance team and Response Director to gather, develop, and share cost projections for activation operations.
- Recruit and train local individuals to absorb long-term ownership of activation financial operations.
- Contribute key insights into After Action Reports to improve Relief Operations with an emphasis on Finance.
- Oversee compliance with existing financial policies and procedures for operational efficiency related to finances, including expense control, ordering, procurement, and vendor relationships.
- Perform all other duties and tasks as assigned.
- 4+ years related experience, preferably in fast paced, ever changing environments, including military, emergency response, culinary, humanitarian or event management settings.
- 2+ years financial operations and/or project management experience.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast paced and high volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness.
- Willingness and ability to work in challenging environments with austere living conditions. For example, responders may not have access to running water, communications, or electricity and they may have to sleep outdoors and use bucket toilets.
- Schedule flexibility to work extended hours and to account for time zone differences.
- Developed organizational, time management, and administrative skills.
- Experience utilizing accounting principles, bookkeeping functions, and financial procedures.
- Able to interact professionally with employees, vendors, volunteers, and other stakeholders.
Preferred candidates will have proficiency in additional languages relevant to common disaster or conflict zones is highly desirable (Spanish, French, Portuguese).

Salary Range: $65,000 - $75,000 USD Per Year (Depends on Experience)
