Who We Are Looking For
Are you a parent living in New Haven? Are you passionate about supporting other parents? Are you organized and excited about helping programs run smoothly? UWGNH is seeking a Parent Ambassador Program Coordinator to support our Parent Ambassador Program, which ensures that more families in New Haven have the information they need to support their child’s healthy development and education prior to starting kindergarten.
Parent Ambassadors – parents or caregivers who enjoy educating other parents about the opportunities and supports that are available for young children – are the backbone of the Parent Ambassador Program. This position is responsible for ensuring Parent Ambassadors are supported in their community outreach efforts and that the program is organized and efficient and meets the requirements of our grant funding.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Program Coordination:
- Manage logistics for meetings (space, child care, food)
- Approve timesheets and process bi-weekly invoices
- Co-create slide deck/agenda for meetings
- Research and order items through the Parents Connecting Parents Grant, including outreach materials and incentives
Facilitation and Leadership:
- Plan and hold weekly check-ins with Parent Ambassadors (currently Mondays from 5pm-5:30pm via zoom).
- Plan and co-facilitate monthly Parent Ambassador Learning Network (currently Mondays once a month at United Way).
- Act as main point of contact for Parent Ambassadors.
- Coordinate community outreach with Parent Ambassadors and State-level Coordinator.
- Manage scheduling of Parent Ambassadors at community events.
- Coordinate special projects like RAPID Survey, Parent Resource Folders, Winter Fest Event, Week of the Young Child.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be a parent and resident of New Haven.
- Ability to work with diverse staff and community members.
- Good communication skills, both in writing and speaking.
- Proficiency with Microsoft products including Outlook, Word, Excel, and other Office 365 applications.
- Two to three years of related supervisory and work experience, preferably in a non-profit setting.
DESIRED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
- Parent of a child in the age range of newborn to 5 years.
- Experience facilitating learning communities and small group training.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish).
- Demonstrated comfort in learning new software/online tools as needed.
- Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and dedication to the mission of UWGNH.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Oversee and manage the activities of contracted Parent Ambassadors
