DescriptionWorking as a member of the Foundation team, the Philanthropy Officer will manage a portfolio of 100-120 individuals with capacity to make gifts of $5k+ of mostly newly identified grateful patient prospects and proactive prospects. He/She will contribute to the team’s fundraising goals by qualifying gift prospects, moving prospects through all stages of the donor cycle, developing compelling gift opportunities, making successful asks and closes, and partnering with providers and internal leaders to engage donors.

- Advanced degree a plus
- Valid drivers licence
Required Experience
- 5+ years successful major gifts development experience
- 10+ years successful major gifts development experience (Preferred)

Job Specific Essential Functions
1. Identify, qualify, cultivate, service, and steward donors; regularly meet with approximately 10-15
prospective and existing hospital donors each month. Build pipeline of major gift donors to Adena Health.
2. Partner with line leaders, physicians, and other internal leaders for effective donor conversations. Draft
outreach correspondence on behalf of providers; prepare and write effective briefings for Development’s
internal champions
3.Collaborate with leaders on qualifying new grateful patients and friends of Adena Health and moving
prospects through stages in a timely way.
4.Coordinate with President on effective bequest and other planned giving solicitations for appropriate
5. Develop deep understanding of Adena Health’s mission, programs, relevant departments, and priorities to effectively communicate cases for support and gift opportunities.
6. Assist with annual program planning, goal setting, progress reports and evaluations.
7. Actively participate in prospect strategy meetings and develop short- and long-term prospect plans for top donors and grateful patients.
8. Partner with existing donors and volunteer leaders to identify leads to new prospective donors and engage
them in the giving cycle.
9.Plan and execute small, focused cultivation/stewardship events and/or virtual updates around appropriate
priorities and themes, encourage top prospects/donors to participate, and assiduously follow up with
attendees for further engagement toward a gift.
10. Capture and log all meaningful donor interactions and proposals in the Foundation database. Maintain
records to provide accurate and robust records and to foster consistency in donor relationships.
11. Develop proposals and other written materials as necessary and appropriate. Partner with Marketing and
Communications team on crafting meaningful cultivation, recognition and stewardship materials.
12. Perform other duties as needed.
13. Travel to visit external partners and events, using an Adena certified vehicle, if applicable.
