Mercy Flights is accepting applications for a full-time Communication Specialist position!
We are seeking aCommunications Specialist who is responsible for operating radio systems, handling emergency and non-emergency calls, coordinating transportation requests, and maintaining detailed documentation. This role requires professionalism, accuracy, and a high level of customer service while working closely with EMS agencies, hospitals, and other partners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate radio frequencies and dispatch resources effectively and professionally.
- Coordinate and direct inter-facility transport requests and EMS calls.
- Communicate with flight teams to facilitate patient transports and resource requests.
- Document and track emergency response activities using Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems.
- Monitor security cameras and report unusual activity promptly.
- Provide excellent customer service via phone and electronic communication.
- Maintain competency in systems and procedures used in the Communication Center.
- Adhere to all company policies, regulations, and privacy standards.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree in business or communications preferred.
- One year of experience in dispatch, public safety, or a high-stress customer service environment required. Experience in EMS preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with internet-based software applications.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and perform effectively under pressure.
Certifications:
- Emergency Medical Dispatcher certification (or ability to obtain within 12 months).
- Certified Flight Coordinator certification (or ability to obtain within 1 year).
- First Aid and CPR certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months).
Schedule: This is a shift-based role requiring flexibility, including 12-hour shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays.
