Position Overview:

The Greater St. Louis Area Scouting is seeking a Director of Development to join our team. You'll play a vital role in promoting Scouting and its positive impact on young people across the region. The Director of Development will oversee the daily operations of the development department including but not limited to: special events, data management, annual giving society, grants and corporate/foundation relations.

Responsibilities:

Collaborate with Chief Development Officer on overall development strategy
Take action to meet annual fundraising goals
Supervise Special Events Director, Database Manager, Part-Time Grant writer
Manage a portfolio of donors
Oversee development operations such as direct mail/email program, reporting, annual giving stewardship and grants
Engage with high-level volunteers to implement a stronger annual giving program and growth in special events
Track and report relationship management activity in conjunction with database manager
Participate in organizational initiatives that will facilitate in achievement of fundraising goals

Education: Bachelor’s Degree Required

Requirements:

Minimum 5 years philanthropy and fundraising experience
Supervisory experience
Valid driver’s license

Preferences:

Proven ability to successfully build and lead a team
Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Outlook & Office Suite as well as Raiser’s Edge.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to build relationships with individuals from varying backgrounds
Familiarity with sales and marketing strategies, grant writing and event planning.
Excellent attention to detail
Demonstrated success in managing and forging relationships with multiple donor sources and fostering long-term relationships
Experience creating and implementing strategic plans to raise funds in a cost-effective and time-efficient manner
Ability to use data to better serve donors and engage

Salary or Salary Range:

$80,000-$90,000 with variable compensation opportunities
