About the Organization
In 1998, Tulsa Community Foundation (TCF) was established to assist nonprofit agencies, corporations, individuals and families with flexible charitable giving solutions.
The Tulsa Community Foundation is a collection of over 2,000 funds, varying in size from a few thousand to multiple millions of dollars. Each fund has its own identity and philanthropic purpose. Funds benefit from being invested with other funds to create a lasting community resource and benefit to the region.
Position Purpose
TCF seeks an experienced, highly skilled and mission driven candidate to serve as a Program Officer–Development. The Program Officer–Development will perform individual and business/funds development and stewardship roles for Tulsa Community Foundation. Our mission is to steward donors’ charitable giving, now and for generations to come and to provide leadership, vision and impactful community investment.
The Program Officer of Development involves being a key leader driving TCF’s mission, shaping our asset development strategy, nurturing donor relationships, and fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation. This work will directly impact the growth of philanthropy.
Responsibilities/Essential Duties
- Develop and execute comprehensive strategies for business development, donor engagement, and community outreach, especially with the allied professional community
- Identify and cultivate professional advisors in the accounting, financial planning, legal and tax communities to create referral opportunities
- Set and achieve ambitious development goals (new business & legacy donors) while ensuring sustainable growth
- Participate in strategic planning at the executive level
- Create and execute on business development strategies to grow the foundation’s assets through planned giving, endowment building, and complex gifts
- Monitor and analyze development trends and adjust strategies accordingly
- Ensure best practices in donor database management and gift processing
- Build and maintain strong relationships with current and prospective donors, including individuals, families, and corporations
- Design, implement and oversee innovative donor stewardship programs that enhance the giving experience, including donor recognition programs and special events
- Prepare and execute donor briefings, presentations, and other donor recognition events or campaigns
- Create personalized giving strategies that align donor interest with community needs
- Serve as a key brand ambassador for the foundation in the community
- Identify and cultivate new partnership opportunities to expand the foundation’s reach and impact raising awareness of the foundation’s mission
- Promote TCF through presentations and speaking engagements with community organizations, associations and groups
- Record and maintain prospect/donor contacts in RE NXT
- Develop key performance indicators in connection with core development activities to provide regular reporting to management
- Participate in continuing education opportunities such as conferences, webinars, etc. as required
- Consistent and reliable presence to facilitate in person interactions regarding training, donor relations and program procedures
- Respond timely to constituent and stakeholder requests and needs:
o May require immediate response informing person that you will schedule a time with them the next business day
o May require response after 5 PM weekdays
- Other duties as assigned, including special projects
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree required, business administration, communications, or related field preferred
- 5-7 years related experience with nonprofit or community organization preferred
- Prior experience with development and cultivating relationships, stewardship of best practices preferred
- Practiced and executed public presentations
Skills and Abilities
- Microsoft Office (Proficient)
- Experience with Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge (NXT) and NPact Foundation Cloud a plus
- Excellent verbal and written communications, specifically in phone and email communications

- Work independently with limited supervision while maintaining multiple priorities

- Use computer and phone for extended periods of time and manual dexterity to perform hand based manual office tasks
Physical requirements
- Lift up to 25 lbs., for supplies and materials as needed
- Ability to work at a computer for extended period
Hours and Location
- This is an in-person position based in Tulsa, OK
- A typical work week is Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
- The work week will occasionally vary with advance notice depending on scheduled programming and other events; may require evening or weekend hours for special events or tours.

- Candidate will need a valid driver’s license, and car insurance.
