Payrate: $16.50 - $20.09 (depending on education and experience)
Catholic Charities of Baltimore, My Sister’s Place, is currently seeking an Operations Assistant, who will, perform a variety of tasks in coordination of facility daily operations including interface with volunteers, coordination of maintenance / security, and quality assurance for daily meal program. The work schedule is Monday – Friday, 6:45am-10:45am and 6:45am-6:45pm every other weekend.
Open since 1982, My Sister’s Place Women’s Center is Baltimore City’s longest-serving women’s day shelter and resource center for women and children experiencing homelessness and poverty. We empower those we serve to overcome their situations through our services, which include extensive workshops centered on the 8 realms of wellness: emotional, spiritual, intellectual, physical, environmental, financial, occupational, and social wellness.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with daily meal and guest program operations as well as community-based programming.
- Coordinate and assist with maintenance related operations.
- Coordinate and track delivery of donations.
- Coordinate and assist with storage of purchased and donated food, supplies, gifts.
- Order / Purchase and pick up supplies as needed.
- Work a flexible schedule to include weekends.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
PROGRAM SPECIFIC DUTIES:
Employees working in the following program(s) have responsibilities that are in addition to the above duties and responsibilities. These include, but are not limited to:
MSPWC
- Acts as a Team Lead to ensure an effectively run shift.
- Provides guidance to staff in the absence of the Operations Supervisor.
- Update and maintain the Shelter Resident Chore list.
- Provide crisis intervention as needed; De-escalating situations and quickly resolving conflicts between clients; recognize symptoms of those who have severe mental health disorders and mental breakdowns.
- Assist with the monitoring of reports and use of software as needed.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma/GED.
- 3 years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Shows reliability by being punctual; maintains consistent attendance.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Basic knowledge of clerical procedures and systems such as managing Outlook calendar, email, and recordkeeping.
- Ability to work with minimal direction or supervision.
- Requires the ability to utilize computer systems and software necessary to perform position functions. Basic Windows PC, web browsing (i.e., Chrome, Internet Explorer, etc.), and Microsoft Outlook skills required. Other Microsoft Office application knowledge, such as Word, Excel PowerPoint, Skype, and OneDrive desired.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Medium work that includes moving objects up to 40 pounds.
- Remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods.
- Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one work site to another.
- Communicating with others to exchange information.
- Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
- Assessing the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned.
- Hearing and vision abilities within normal range (corrected) to drive safely and to observe and communicate with others.
