Assistant Site Manager

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Site Supervision

  • Supervises and evaluates teaching and support staff.
  • Collaborates with the content area managers and Direct Supervisor to ensure that facility issues are reported and resolved in a timely manner.
  • Ensures that the site environment is safe for operation on a daily basis.
  • Maintains compliance with DCFS licensing standards, Head Start Standards, Preschool for All and Preventative Initiative Programs.
  • Provides guidance on problem solving at the site level.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to classroom staff in the development, writing, and implementation of daily lesson plans and classroom routings and transitions.

 

Program Monitoring and Management

  • Collaborates with partners within the community in efforts to develop referrals for families
  • Adheres to the agency’s internal monitoring process to ensure compliance with program requirements.
  • Establishes and maintains an effective working relationship with the parents and communities that we serve, including participating in agency and site outreach, recruitment, and civic engagement efforts.
  • Ensures ongoing recruitment and enrollment of eligible children for various funding sources.
  • Conducts and documents formal observations in staff’s usual work setting and provides written and verbal feedback.
  • Collaborates with other Content Area Managers to plan and coordinate professional development for staff.
  • Tracks teacher and staff credentials and partners with the education team to assist teachers and staff with advancement towards credentials.
  • Conducts supervision with direct reports.
  • Participates in weekly supervision with Site Manager.
  • Works with Teachers, Family Support Workers, Education Team, and Infant Toddler Specialist with the referral process for children and families.
  • Participates in Core Leadership Meeting meetings and other agency meetings for managers and staff.
  • Participates in agency outreach and recruitment events, including evenings and weekends.

  • Experience working successfully in a multi-site organization with demonstrated success integrating into new work environments
  • Participates in civic engagement activities that advance the mission of Gads Hill Center.
  • Advances parent leadership development.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds (average child’s weight).

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bilingual Spanish/English required.
  • Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood or a related field and a Director’s Gateway level 2 credential required.
  • At least three years in a progressively responsible position in a Head Start, Early Head, Preschool for All and Prevention Initiative funded agency is required. Previous managerial experience in Head Start/Early Head Start programs and monitoring experience preferred.
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License and be willing to travel locally.
  • Experience with multicultural programming preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills. 
  • Ability to pass a criminal record and child abuse/neglect registry check. 
  • Work well under pressure and adhere to strict timelines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and willingness to develop additional skills as needed.
  • A passion for the mission of Gads Hill Center.
  • Experience in a nonprofit environment preferred.
