PROJECT COORDINATOR JOB DESCRIPTION

As a Project Coordinator supporting TEC’s public sector energy programs, you’ll help communities transform their energy use and empower public agencies to execute smart strategies that build local resilience in California's transforming clean energy economy. 

TEC is scouting for talented Project Coordinators (PCs) to help our Energy Strategies teams develop and deliver clean energy projects across a growing portfolio of programs. You can expect to immediately support one or more contracts, including the Southern California Regional Energy Network (SoCalREN) Public Agency Programs and the Inland Regional Energy Network (I-REN), which engage the collective action of public agencies to save energy and money while protecting their community’s valuable resources.

The PC will directly support Project Managers (PMs) and assist with deploying technical assistance to public agencies as they plan, finance, and implement energy efficiency projects. Qualified candidates are able to effectively engage with public agency stakeholders, track project details and documents, coordinate and perform administrative duties at meetings, develop reports and presentation content, develop funding and financing applications, and be able to effectively support multiple team members across various departments.

TEC is also interested in candidates open to leveraging their skills and expertise across other programs and initiatives as our business opportunities evolve.  Project Coordinators often support a variety of TEC’s program activities; therefore, TEC is interested in candidates who can be flexible and leverage their skills across TEC’s projects and initiatives. One of TEC’s values is “learning on the fly”, which means we expect a successful candidate to be able to learn and grow on the job and build expertise by trial and error.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities 

Your responsibilities will focus on supporting a team of Project Managers with energy efficiency retrofit projects from identification to completion, including but not limited to:

Primary Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders, such as public agencies, schools, community organizations, strategic partners and subcontractors/vendors

  • Schedule and support the facilitation of meetings and events, developing program correspondence including reports, presentations, agendas, and meeting minutes

  • Assist in tracking, reporting, and analysis of metrics related to contract goals, deliverable,s and objectives by using tracking templates and customer relationship management (CRM) databases

  • Utilize Google Sheets/Excel for data analysis, computing energy efficiency calculations, and leveraging templates to prepare financial analyses to communicate business case proposals for projects

  • Complete energy efficiency program and incentive applications with support from technical consultants and Project Managers

  • Support project closeout including coordination with program vendors/subcontractors, review invoices, prepare and finalize project closeout documents including installation reports, and communicate discrepancies requiring resolution

Other Duties

  • Assist team in addressing technical questions from public agencies, which may include coordinating with technical consultants to obtain the appropriate response

  • Develop municipal building portfolios and benchmarking analyses within ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager and other similar platforms

  • Support the production of data-based reports and dashboards on the progress of program goals

  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the incentive program processes to support project vetting and the review and QC of incentive applications

  • Produce regularly scheduled updates and reports on the progress of assigned projects

  • Develop a solid comprehension of program components and initiatives, organize and communicate relevant program documents

  • Research relevant funding and financing opportunities for public agencies as assigned and present findings to internal staff

  • Serve as a company-wide resource for TEC

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience

  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks to support various team members

  • Ability to complete assignments in a thorough, accurate, and timely manner

  • Attention to detail and follow-through in tasks that meet agency and contract expectations

  • Ability to quickly learn and understand fundamentals of building systems, building energy performance, energy project financing terminology, best practices, and assessment/measurement

  • Relevant work experience in the energy efficiency and sustainability industry is preferred

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Proficient in English (verbal and written)

  • Ability to perform required project tasks independently

  • Proficiency in writing reports and business correspondence

  • Strong analytical skills demonstrated by the ability to capture and analyze data in a spreadsheet (MS Excel, Google Sheets, etc.) and utilize advanced functions such as pivot tables, lookup tables, and conditional formatting)

  • Has a passion and basic understanding of energy efficiency and distributed energy resource concepts

  • Demonstrated interest in and knowledge of authentic community engagement, including cultural awareness, knowledge and respect of BIPOC, hard-to-reach, rural, and other demographics related to TEC’s mission of serving environmental justice communities

  • Valid driver’s license, insurance, access to a vehicle, and willingness to travel throughout Southern California to attend meetings and events

  • Have an active cell phone plan service

  • Building benchmarking experience within ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager desired

  • Experience with Salesforce platform and Google Suite applications desired

  • Experience working with public agencies is a plus

  • Geographic information system (GIS) map development and analysis experience desired

  • Experience with utility incentive & rebate programs, applications, and processes desired

Work Environment

This position can work remotely except when business needs require in-person attendance at meetings and events at TEC offices or customer sites. COMPENSATION

Salary: This position's starting base pay range is $23.08 -$31.25/hour ($48,000 - $65,000 annually). This hiring range is a good faith and reasonable estimate of the salary range at the time of the posting and is subject to change. The compensation offered will be determined by various factors, including a candidate’s experience, education, training, skills, and certifications.
