Description

Third Way Center is seeking relief mental health counselors to work as members of a multidisciplinary treatment team at our residential facilities working with high-risk male and female youth ages 13-20. We are looking for a creative and dynamic set of people who like to be challenged and seek to learn and better themselves professionally and personally. Our mission is to provide a continuum of services in a home-like environment where at-risk youth can work through their traumas, and learn to take responsibility for their actions and lives to become productive members of society.

Our Relief MHC's are active members of the treatment team that carry out our programmatic goals as well as work with the youth on their own treatment goals.

Relief staff work at Third Way Center Facilities on an on-call basis.  Their job is to fill in for regular staff members in the case of vacations, personal days, and other unfilled shifts.  Overnight hours usually begin at 10:00 PM, and end at 8:00 AM.  Their hours can vary based on the needs of the staff and open shifts.

Relief staff members are responsible for checking their Third Way email to be aware of available shifts and to work when needed.  Relief staff must work 3 shifts per month, at a minimum, as shifts are available.

Relief staff members are directly responsible to the team at the facility where they are working and should take direction from the regular staff members on the shift.  They provide crisis intervention and counseling when needed. They are responsible for monitoring residents' sleep patterns, committee and paperwork responsibilities, attendance, consequences, urinalysis screens, crisis situations, etc. They are also responsible for monitoring resident’s whereabouts, cleaning responsibilities, required paperwork including daily progress notes, keeping files updated, daily census, medication documentation, and other assigned administrative tasks.  It is important to assist in keeping both the program and residents safe.  Contact with on-call staff for guidance, supervision, or updating is expected.  As a staff person at Third Way Center, we are role models for these residents, and need to pay attention to how we conduct ourselves personally and professionally.

This is a non-benefited position but could turn into a full-time/benefited position.
