Job Title: Major Gifts Officer
Job Description:
The Major Gifts Officer is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to cultivate and solicit major donors in support of the organization’s mission and fundraising goals. This role involves building and maintaining relationships with high-net-worth individuals, foundations, and corporations to secure significant financial contributions, ensuring the financial success of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Identify, cultivate, and steward relationships with major donors to solicit significant gifts in support of the organization.
Develop and implement strategies for donor acquisition, retention, and upgrade to maximize donor engagement and contribution levels.
Collaborate with the fundraising team to create personalized solicitation plans and proposals for major donors.
Conduct prospect research to identify new potential major donors and opportunities for donor outreach.
Manage a portfolio of major donors, providing personalized stewardship and engagement to cultivate long-term relationships.
Coordinate with senior leadership and board members to leverage their relationships for major donor engagement.
Track and report on major gifts revenue, donor interactions, and progress towards fundraising goals.
Stay updated on industry best practices, trends, and opportunities in major gifts fundraising.
Represent the organization at events, meetings, and networking opportunities to build the organization's profile within the philanthropic community.

Position Requirements
Minimum Education:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., Nonprofit Management, Marketing, Communications).
Minimum Experience:
Proven experience in major gifts fundraising or related donor relations role.
Demonstrated success in meeting and exceeding large fundraising goals.
5+ years of successful track record in Nonprofit Development, including Major Gifts, and Planned Giving.
Qualifications:
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and effectively communicate the organization’s mission and impact.
Goal-oriented, self-motivated, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
Knowledge of fundraising techniques and best practices in major gifts solicitation.
Proficiency in donor management software and Microsoft Office suite.
Understanding of nonprofit financials and budgeting processes.
Ability to maintain confidential and meticulous records.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
