Position Summary

The Distributor Group Counsel reports to the Chief Legal Officer and will be the primary contact for legal advice and compliance obligations for the Distributor entities and the Paper Consumables business.


Primary Roles and Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Chief Legal Officer, the Distributor Group Counsel would serve as the primary in-house legal contact for our distributor entities and paper consumables line of business, which includes the distribution of bingo paper, pull tab tickets and other charitable gaming products.
  • Responsibility for contract review, regulatory advice, addressing compliance issues and mitigating risks to maintain the Distributor Business’s overall ethical and legal integrity.
  • Review and become an expert in the laws, rules and regulatory requirements for the Distributor Business and stay up to date on the latest regulatory changes within the industry.
  • Working with the Chief Legal Officer, coordinate responses to regulatory requests and internal investigations of any alleged violations of laws, rules or standards.
  • Take prompt corrective actions in response to identified concerns or problems, as well as taking preventive actions where potentials for concern are identified.
  • Travel to the different distributors will be required. 
Requirements

Experience and Education

  • Juris Doctorate degree with 10+ years of experience as an in-house counsel or in a similar role, preferably within the gaming industry.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with experience working in-house.
  • Deep understanding of contracting terms and best risk management practices.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Keen attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills.
