The Humane Society of Summit County is seeking a full-time (40 hours per week) retail assistant manager for Happy Tails Thrift Shop in Akron, Ohio. This candidate will assist the store manager in retail strategies to drive business and meet goals. This means assisting in all daily operations of the shop, including customer service, processing donations, general clean up, managing staff, and opening/closing operations of the shop. This position works closely with the store manager to ensure staff and volunteers are set up for success each day with clear expectations. This includes supporting the store manager with performance management activities, including feedback and continuous check-ins with staff and volunteers. The assistant manager will motivate and inspire staff and volunteers to ensure a dynamic and flexible team environment. This involves stepping into multiple positions throughout the day to support business needs. This role occasionally requires outdoor work, in all weather conditions, to help process donations for the shop and oversee productivity in the donation work space. This candidate will coordinate product displays and merchandise fixtures throughout the shop with the help of staff and volunteers. This is a duty that requires light lifting up to 20 pounds, and may include the use of a step ladder at times. Benefits: Humane Society of Summit County offers a comprehensive benefits package to eligible employees, including: Must be regularly scheduled to work 30 hours or more per week to be eligible: Paid Time Off (PTO) (Some PTO available for less than 30 hours per week) Health Insurance Retirement Plan with Employer Match Voluntary Dental and Vision Insurance Voluntary Short-Term Disability Insurance Voluntary Accident Insurance   Position Requirements   Work closely with cashiers to stay up to date on product pricing changes and concerns 1 - 3 years previous experience in a retail environment as a sales associate, or assistant manager role Engage in customer feedback and relay observations to appropriate team members Design and execute display changes for new seasons, holidays, and special events Take part in the creative process to design and plan new floorsets Work with donation processors to learn fixture and merchandise inventory Maintain and organize products inside and outside the store Collaborate with donation processors to prepare for products coming into the store Facilitate team acknowledgement and rewards Manage performance documentation and address performance concerns when necessary Promote a culture of honesty and integrity Actively train, develop, and coach staff and volunteers Possess strong problem solving skills and quick decision making abilities 18 or older.
