Our mission is to provide children and youth in Arizona with a safe environment, free from abuse and neglect by creating strong and successful families.  

The Family Education Department is ready to hire a Safe Kids Program Coordinator to join our team.  

We are looking for compassionate, energetic, and dependable individuals that are committed to Child Safety and Parent Education.  

 

In this role you will be a primary instructor leading educational workshops for parents, caregivers, professionals, and community members. Workshops are led both virtually and in-person at partner locations throughout Maricopa County. Classes are taught at varying times to ensure that they are available when caregivers need them, including evenings. The position will use a variety of evidence informed/based curriculum to teach parents and caregivers, positive discipline techniques, childhood development, creating secure attachment. Our goal is to provide education that will help families and caregivers provide a safe and healthy setting that a child can have future success in life.  

As the Safe Kids Program Coordinator, you will also be responsible for leading the Safe Kids Maricopa County Coalition.  The position oversees all injury prevention and safety related initiatives for the local coalition including car seat safety, water safety, safe sleep and more. The Coalition members meet monthly to address the injury prevention initiatives, host monthly car seat check events and annual Safety events

Qualifications

To be considered you must have: 

  • A bachelor's degree in Family Studies & Human Development, or a related field, and 2 years experience working with children or families. 

  • Ability to effectively teach virtually and in person with diverse groups of clients 

  • Knowledge of child development and positive parenting techniques  

  • Must be able to display verbal and written communication skills that meet the requirements of the position and the needs of the clients.  

  • Multi-tasking skills, event planning and flexibility to work with different types of groups.  

  • A personal vehicle is required for daily use for travel to partner and CCA sites.  

  • A clean five-year motor vehicle history and a valid Arizona Driver’s license. 

  • A level one fingerprint clearance card or the ability to obtain one prior to starting. 

  •  

You are a star candidate if you have the above, and:  

  • Prior teaching experience working with adult education. 

  • Certified Car Seat Technician  

  • Certifications in parent education programs such as Triple P, Conscious Discipline, Active Parenting  

  • Community Coalition building experience 

  • Understanding of Trauma Informed Care 

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish a plus
