Fixed term role through until November 2025 and can be based out of Auckland or Christchurch.
The role of an Infrastructure and Systems Engineer is pivotal in ensuring the seamless operation, maintenance, and enhancement of St John’s technological backbone. With a focus on optimizing performance, reliability, and security, you'll be responsible for implementing and managing the infrastructure that supports critical applications and services. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, your expertise will contribute to resolving technical issues, proactively identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing solutions to ensure the organization's technology environment remains robust and aligned with its goals.
As an integral part of the technical team, you'll leverage your skills to implement best practices in systems administration, monitoring, and maintenance. Your responsibilities will encompass troubleshooting and resolving system-related problems, managing software and hardware updates, and enhancing system efficiency. By embracing this role, you'll play a key role in bolstering the organisation's technology foundation, enabling it to adapt to evolving requirements and advance its technological capabilities.
Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Experience in infrastructure and systems engineering, with demonstrated progression in responsibilities.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications e.g. University technology qualification or Technical Institute qualification or proven experience at a senior level ICT Systems Administration
- Proven experience in networking, server administration, and cloud-based platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure).
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automation and task execution.
- Familiarity with virtualization technologies like VMware or Hyper-V for efficient resource management.
- Strong grasp of security best practices and the ability to secure infrastructure and systems effectively.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
