Job Title: Community Organizer
Job Status: Full-time
Job Summary: Under general supervision, the Community Organizer implements field strategies to achieve ACCESS� advocacy, civic engagement, and other campaign goals. Identifies and recruits strategic partners, as well as individuals to be engaged with us and advocate for assigned issue areas.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
� Work with team members to develop and execute field strategies to achieve established advocacy and civic engagement goals
� Identify and recruit new supporters of ACCESS� advocacy and community engagement initiatives
� Conduct outreach to raise the visibility of assigned advocacy initiatives and organization priorities through community events, tabling and building earned media events
� Develop and maintain growing database of engaged people
� Build and develop relationships with strategic partners including individuals and community organizations to accomplish advocacy and civic engagement objectives
� Meet all reporting requirements based on assigned functional area
� Interpret/translate information for program participants as needed based on assigned functional area
� Maintain clip files, photo archives and other publication archives
� Gather and identify messaging, design, and content for print and electronic communications
� May research, write and edit communication pieces designed to promote and enhance the program including writing press releases, news briefs, e-newsletters, e-mail, program website and other materials
� Operate standard office equipment and use required software applications
� Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of:
� Intermediate concepts, principles and practices of community organizing, advocacy and civic engagement
� Arab/Middle Eastern issues, culture and languages is preferred
Skill in:
� Operating standard office equipment and using required software applications for program area and other applications, including Microsoft Office
� Community Outreach / Activism
Ability to:
� Incite enthusiasm and influence, motivate, and persuade others to achieve desired outcomes
� Organize, manage, and track multiple detailed tasks and assignments
� Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
� Work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment
� Handle stressful situations and provide a high level of customer service in a calm and professional manner
� Establish and maintain effective working relationships
� Speak and/or write in Arabic is preferred
Educational/Previous Experience Requirements:
� Minimum Degree Required:
o Associate degree or 60 semester credits of study (or 90 quarter credits) in a related field
� Required Disciplines:
o Political Science, Public Policy, Communications, or related field

� At least one year of field organizing and advocacy experience required or any equivalent combination of experience, education and/or training approved by Human Resources

o High School Diploma or GED

� At least five years of field organizing, and advocacy experience required

Working Conditions:
Hours: Normal business hours, some additional hours may be required
Travel Required: Local travel up to 75%
