Job Description
Overview
AARP Foundation works for and with vulnerable people over 50 to end senior poverty and reduce financial hardship by building economic opportunity. Through vigorous legal advocacy and evidence-based solutions, and by strengthening supportive community connections, we foster resilience, advance equity and restore hope.
The Senior Vice President, Marketing and Communications develops and implements the overarching integrated marketing and communications vision for the organization. Grows the brand, reputation, reach and impact with focus on programs, services, properties and platforms. Expands the organization’s marketing and communications capabilities across multiple disciplines such as web, mobile, content marketing, email, display, community, search, direct mail, and more. In partnership with other senior leadership and in close collaboration with the enterprise AARP, drives the organization’s thought leadership on best practices in meeting the evolving needs and aspirations of older adults living with low income.
Responsibilities

Develops and manages omnichannel strategy that drives acquisition and engagement of the organization’s consumers. Manages a cross-functional team of marketing and communications professionals that delivers success via strategy and execution.

Oversees marketing and communications spend across the organization to strengthen the organization's brand, programs, fundraising and volunteer outreach.

Guides internal and external communications, thought leadership, brand, digital and social media strategies, in collaboration with other business units. Ensures social media, website and digital content strategies are integrated and achieve marketing and communications goals, driving a comprehensive consumer-centered strategy across all channels.

Employs breadth and depth to marketing and communications expertise to serve the complexity of the organization’s goals and growth via an omnichannel strategy. Manages messaging and creative expression across all media and advertising channels, in collaboration with AARP.

Oversees digital marketing governance to the end of managing best-in-class digital marketing operations.

Provides creative and communications support across the organization for digital creative including copywriting/copy editing, design concepts, advertising execution, and presentations.

Ensures that people, processes, metrics, and goals are brought into alignment. Overseas organization-wide employee engagement. Manages the marketing and communications team to perform optimally in their roles, including measuring and evaluating performance, developing, and improving the overall marketing process, and selecting and implementing marketing technologies.

Orchestrates content-driven marketing within digital channels and media formats by using content to define and execute the purpose-driven narratives and business narratives that explain what the organization does and why users should engage with the organization.
Qualifications
-
15+ years of marketing and communications or combination of experience.

Experience developing and implementing an overarching integrated marketing and communications vision for an organization.

Experience growing the brand, reputation, reach and impact with focus on its programs, services, properties, and platforms.

Experience expanding an organization’s marketing and communications capabilities across multiple disciplines.

Experience building/developing an organization's thought leadership.

Ability to understand how an organization is designed and integrate the needs of each stakeholder into marketing and communications efforts/initiatives.

Related marketing and/or communications designation is desired but not required.

Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or related field.

Hybrid Work Environment
AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as remote workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work can only be done within the United States and its territories.
