Position Summary:
The Director of Philanthropy will plan, organize, direct and strategically grow a $1Million+ philanthropic program for Hartford HealthCare Central Region which consists of The Hospital of Central Connecticut and MidState Medical Center. The Director, working in conjunction with regional leadership, will design and implement fund-raising campaigns by cultivating relationships, soliciting gifts, acknowledging donors, and properly stewarding through the donation cycle. The Director will also serve as the administrative liaison to the Central Region Auxiliaries, including oversight of three gift shops
Key Accountabilities:
- Build relationships and increase donations in a community-focused approach. Design and implement fund-raising campaigns using direct mail, personal solicitation, involvement of businesses and organizations, appeals to philanthropic organizations and planned giving through estate planning, bequests, trusts, etc.
- Provide recognition through gift clubs, written and electronic communication, recognition events, donor signage including plaques and digital displays, and special recognition for planned gift individuals
- Develop department goals and objectives and establish and implement policies and procedures for operation of the Philanthropy department. Implementing techniques and strategies to achieve such goals.
- Work closely with the HHC Central Region Auxiliaries to plan and raise funds through fundraising events and other initiatives for the benefit of MidState Medical Center and The Hospital of Central Connecticut at the New Britain General and Bradley Memorial campuses.
- Collaborate with colleagues and medical staff of Hartford HealthCare to maximize fundraising opportunities, strategize on system-wide initiatives and solicitations, and ensure best practices and fundraising and volunteer standards of operation
- Create the operating budget, prepare regular reports and provide updates for the hospital’s Board of Directors, Executive Leadership Team, and development committees
- Partner with Community Engagement in recruiting, supporting and engaging Corporators. Serve as advisor in Community Engagement grant making
