Catholic Charities of Baltimore is currently seeking a Part-time Registered Dietitian at St. Vincent Villa conducts nutritional assessments for children in residence, following the standards of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the National Association of Dietitians. They collaborate with staff, guardians, and outside agencies to ensure appropriate dietary recommendations, provide nutritional education, and address urgent nutritional needs promptly. Additionally, the Dietitian assists in treatment planning, supports special dietary requirements, and provides guidance on nutrition-related topics to children, families, and staff.
The work schedule is flexible 10 hours a week.
St. Vincent’s Villa provides comprehensive residential treatment for children, ages 5-13, whose behavioral and emotional needs have not responded to community-based interventions and services.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists in the establishment and evaluation of parameters for full nutritional assessment referrals, ensuring comprehensive and timely assessments.
- Conducts nutritional assessments for any residential child referred, ensuring assessments are completed as soon as possible and no later than 4 business days after admission.
- Responds promptly to urgent requests for nutritional assessments, either in person or by phone, ensuring urgent needs are addressed immediately.
- Receives referrals from other agency programs and, under the direction of the Director of Health Services, provides the necessary support and follow-up as requested.
- Contacts guardians and, when appropriate, the Department of Social Services (DSS) to explain the rationale for dietary changes and provide ongoing availability for any follow-up questions.
- Ensures all contacts with children, guardians, families, and staff are documented promptly and thoroughly, in line with Health Services policies and procedures.
- Collaborates with the food provider to ensure that physician's orders for special diets are implemented correctly and consistently.
- Provides guidance and instruction to children, families, guardians, local child-serving agency representatives, and agency staff regarding nutrition, food allergies, special diets, and other relevant topics as part of daily responsibilities and upon special request from DHS.
- Organizes, leads, and participates in individual and group nutritional education activities for SVV residents and staff upon request from the Director of Health Services.
- Attends treatment team meetings for high-profile cases upon request from the Director of Health Services or the treatment team nurse, ensuring full collaboration in treatment planning.
- Provides detailed and accurate reports related to the nutritional health of children in residence, as requested.
- Utilizes the CARE model to influence and guide all interactions and philosophy of support for children, families, and colleagues.
- In rare circumstances, upon the request of the Director of Health Services, provide dietary consultation for children enrolled as a day student in Villa Maria School, or other Family Services Program.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in dietetics, food and nutrition, or related field.
- Two years of experience providing professional nutrition or dietetic services.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Certification/Licensure:
- Current and valid Registered Dietitian Certification with the State of Maryland, in good standing.

- Requires proficiency in using computer systems and software to perform job function, including but not limited to, basic Windows PC, web browsing (i.e., Chrome, Internet Explorer, etc.), and Microsoft Outlook. Knowledge of other Microsoft Office applications, such as Word, Excel PowerPoint, Teams, and OneDrive is preferred.
