Job Description: Vocational Instructor
Position Summary:
The Vocational Instructor supports students with disabilities by designing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs), adapting general education curricula, and fostering a supportive, inclusive learning environment that promotes the academic, social, and emotional growth of students.
Key Responsibilities:
Assessment and Planning:
- Conduct assessments to identify students' needs, strengths, and challenges.
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's unique requirements.
- Collaborate with parents, teachers, therapists, and other stakeholders to set realistic and achievable goals.
Instructional Support:
- Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' diverse needs.
- Provide one-on-one or small-group instruction in various subjects.
- Use specialized strategies and tools, including assistive technology, to enhance learning.
Behavioral Support:
- Develop and implement behavior intervention plans to address challenging behaviors.
- Promote positive behavior and conflict resolution through structured activities and reinforcement techniques.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with general education teachers to integrate special education students into mainstream classrooms where appropriate.
- Communicate regularly with parents or guardians to provide updates on progress and strategies for home support.
- Partner with school staff and external professionals to ensure comprehensive care for students.
Documentation and Compliance:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records on student progress, IEPs, and assessments.
- Ensure compliance with legal and institutional guidelines related to special education services.
- Participate in team meetings and professional development sessions.
Advocacy and Inclusion:
- Advocate for students' rights and ensure their needs are met within the school environment.
- Promote an inclusive school culture that respects diversity and fosters empathy among peers.
