Research Computing Systems Engineer
Stanford Research Computing is looking for a talented system administrator to join our team of professionals helping Stanford’s faculty and students use advanced computing and data tools. This role focuses on system administration, architecture, and support for secure data environments, primarily on-premises Linux-based compute and storage systems.
Responsibilities include managing Linux-based environments, architecting research computing environments, scripting automation, deploying new systems, monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolving system issues. The role requires in-depth Linux knowledge, experience with automation tools like Ansible, scripting skills in Python and Bash, and familiarity with container technologies such as Docker and Singularity.
Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree and ten years of relevant experience or a combination of education and experience. Preferred experience involves a degree in Computer Science or related field, familiarity with security frameworks, and at least 5 years of Linux system administration.
The position is hybrid, with on-site work at Stanford, and may involve occasional travel and extended hours. The salary range is approximately $184,630 to $190,000 annually.
