Position Summary
Reporting directly to VP of Advancement, the Development Manager plays an integral part in the success of the Development Team. The Manager will work across the organization to understand financial and programmatic needs and elevate these needs into narratives for funding opportunities.
The Development Manager will develop and implement fundraising strategies in cultivating a community of giving through foundations, individuals, corporations, and partnerships. The Manager will need to understand and plan out the climate of giving in the 49-counties council to meet organizational fundraising goals.
Ideal Candidate
GSRV expects the Development Manager to have over 5+ years of development and advancement work, particularly in cultivating relationships with funders and donors. Someone who is innovative in turning GSRV’s many experiences into compelling stories and narratives will be most successful in this role. The Manager must not be afraid to build and steward relationships to meet fundraising goals.
The candidate in this role must be able to build and maintain relationships across the organization and manage an impact area that supports the ongoing financial growth of the organization.
Compensation
At GSRV, we believe that a well-structured compensation package will attract and retain talent. Therefore, we are very competitive with including a compensation package for this position that aligns with like-organizations and positions in the area. This includes:

Responsibilities
To be successful, the following are essential duties and responsibilities of this position:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward gifts from a portfolio of 100-125 donors and prospects (individuals, corporations, foundations, and government entities), spending most of the time in in-person, video conference, or on the phone contact with donors, partners, volunteers and prospects. Conduct 12+ face-to-face visits a month (can include revenue-generating video conferencing).
- Develop cultivation and solicitation strategies to build the donor base, focusing on annual/multi-year support, sponsorships, major gifts, and planned gifts by tracking, analyzing and reporting on goals and progress towards metrics.
- Partner with the Development team on coordinating fundraising and organizational events.
- Partner with Communications team to develop comprehensive multichannel solicitation strategies using digital, print, event, and other communications to increase support.
- Maintain accurate records of actions, donor contracts and plans in a timely fashion through The Raiser’s Edge NXT.
- Partner with the Vice President of Advancement; collaborate to identify cultivation and stewardship strategies through data analysis.
- Enter and manage proposals in planning, pending and funded in accordance with the standards and processes managed by the Database Manager.
- Manage signature fundraising event(s), donor cultivation and recognition events, alumni engagement events and other fundraising events.
- Provide active coaching and guidance to team members to assist in their skill and competency building a high performing, efficient, and effective team.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Actively participate in all-staff meetings, staff in-service training, and other meetings.

When representing the council to both internal and external audiences, articulate GSRV’s desired image and position to all audiences.
