Job Profile:
Trails and On-ground Nature-based Experiences:
- Facilitation of nature trails, workshops, expert talks/webinars, skilling or capacity building training and such on engagements.
- Liaison with stakeholders to coordinate and implement the engagements on ground with comfort level with diverse audience target segments (including but not limited to school children, college students, corporates, and general public).Design, develop and deliver engaging outdoor learning modules to promote understanding of biodiversity and conservation issues.
- Organize hands-on activities and field sessions that enhance nature-based
- Collaborate with government agencies such as the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) and other institutional partners to plan and execute biodiversity engagement programs
- Ensure timely coordination and reporting of field activities, maintaining strong relationships with both government and non-government stakeholders
Citizen Science, Monitoring & Surveys:
- Conduct biodiversity monitoring surveys, including flora and fauna identification, data collection, and reporting, focusing on target species and ecosystems.
- Assist in setting up biodiversity monitoring protocols and maintaining survey databases.
- Mobilisation, training and monitoring with field demos for citizen science engagements, blitzes and outreach for national and international competitions or events.
- Support WWF’s citizen science initiatives by involving local communities in data collection and species monitoring through platforms like iNaturalist.
- Organize and contribute to citizen science campaigns focusing on biodiversity documentation and species mapping.
Scientific Validation & Natural History Expertise:
- Demonstrated expertise in the identification of local flora and fauna, including birds, mammals, reptiles, amphibians, butterflies, and plants.
- Collaborate with scientists and conservationists on species identification and / or content vetting.
- Mentor and train others, including students, volunteers, and community members, in species identification and field techniques.
Community Engagement & Awareness:
- Engage with local communities, patrons and schools to raise awareness about local biodiversity and conservation efforts.
- Design and facilitate workshops, talks, and interactive sessions on wildlife conservation, sustainability, and eco-friendly practices.
Requirements
Desired Qualifications, Experience& Competencies:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Wildlife Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, or related field experience
- Proven experience (min: 3 years) in a naturalist or nature educator role demonstrating skills such as conducting nature trails, workshop facilitation and biodiversity monitoring.
- Strong communication, public speaking, and facilitation skills in English and Hindi to engage diverse audiences and lead outdoor educational programs.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in teams, especially under field conditions, with demonstrated leadership in community outreach and environmental education.
- Excellent knowledge of local flora and fauna, with proven expertise in field identification, use of field equipment (binoculars, GPS, data collection tools), and familiarity with citizen science platforms (e.g., iNaturalist, eBird).
- Passion for natural history and biodiversity in India, with a commitment to staying updated on the latest developments in the field.
- Proficiency in using digital and collaborative working tools, including MS Office, OneDrive, and other online/offline platforms.
- Basic understanding of R and statistical methods for ecological data analysis (desirable but not essential).
- Good physical fitness and stamina for extended outdoor activities in varying weather conditions; willingness to travel frequently and work on weekends/holidays when required.
- Strong interest and experience in designing and facilitating community-based engagement and environmental education programs.
