Position Summary
Under the direct supervision of a Training Specialist or Team Director, assists in the provision of direct educational services, vocational services, supported living services, and training for the practical application of skills and social behaviors necessary for optimum levels of independent/interdependent living and vocational life for individuals with disabilities and adaptive needs. Provides for direct implementation of all objectives assigned by an immediate supervisor. Lifting, pulling, and pushing are primary activities of this job.
Minimum Essential Knowledge, Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in the implementation of the vocational, independent and interdependent living skills objectives as set out in the participant's individual support plan.
- To be knowledgeable regarding specific participant needs and backgrounds.
- Participate in meetings to provide direct assistance to the individual with disabilities in the development of their Living Skills and/or Vocational objectives.
- Foster healthful habits and a feeling of wellbeing among participants. Providing support with fundamental daily routines that may encompass assistance with feeding, bathing, choosing attire, grooming, managing personal hygiene, and restroom needs.
- Assist in the daily maintenance and publishing of progress notes regarding assigned individual with disabilities and their specific objectives.
- Participate in regular trainings related to the current practices on living independently, and work with Program Supervisor to implement new techniques and practices.
- Support informed choices on program schedules to help individuals make changes and/or additions to daily activities that enrich services provided by REACH.
- Provide group and individual instruction to execute the individual support plans.
- Transport individuals with disabilities to and from vocational, medical (when applicable), and training activities in the community, as needed.
- Attend and actively participate in peer group activities and discussions, including monthly staff/safety meetings.
- Actively participate in all REACH safety programs and report any safety issues or concerns as they arise.
- Regularly follow REACH policies, including but not limited to, recording all time worked, safety, email & communications, etc.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education and Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
An interest in and willingness to learn and understand issues as they relate to training and vocational needs of individuals with disabilities and adaptive needs. A High School diploma or GED is preferred.
Licenses, Certificates and Special Requirements:
An interest in and willingness to learn and understand issues as they relate to training and vocational needs of individuals with disabilities and adaptive needs. Must be 18 years of age, possess a valid California driver's license, automobile insurance, good DMV driving record; and have a reliable and safe vehicle; ability to lift 50-80 pounds; ability to work independently without direct supervision. The ability to provide very clear and concise written and oral communications. A high school diploma is preferred. CPR and First Aid training and certification are provided by REACH.
Other Requirements
Must be at least 18 years of age, successfully complete health, and LiveScan screenings, must possess valid CA Driver’s license.
