Meals on Wheels People enriches the lives of seniors and assists them in maintaining independence by providing nutritious food, human connections and social support. With the help of more than 5,500 volunteers, our nonprofit organization serves over 5,700 meals daily and more than 1.3 million meals each year across Multnomah, Washington, and Clark Counties. General Summary

The Warehouse Clerk/Driver is responsible for receiving, distributing and delivering all prepared, unprepared food products, center supplies (freight) for Central Kitchen. Responsible for maintaining inventory records in Food Service Software database.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

Warehouse

Maintain accurate and orderly inventory and records of warehouse stock
Complete warehouse inventory monthly and maintain special inventories
Maintain security of warehouse, including incoming and outgoing of product and personnel
Receive invoices daily through Galley software
Maintain temperature logs on Walk ins and Freezers
Receive vendor goods at the dock
Taking temps and dating incoming items.
Pallet maintenance, i.e. wrapping pallets and safely storing them until they are transported
Complete weekly shipments to dining centers
Other duties as assigned

Delivery Driver

Assist with loading products onto carriers for distribution; ensure accuracy of distributed product
Responsible to load daily meals, milk and vegetables on to delivery truck
Deliver food, supplies, inter-office mail, and equipment to dining center or account locations and place in proper area
Assist as needed with all freight orders for distribution to accounts and warehouse duties
Ensure compliance with all State and Federal driver safety standards
Maintenance on carts and Metro shelving (wheels, checking for ware)

Qualifications

Education & Knowledge

High school diploma or GED Certificate
Understanding and knowledge of safety, sanitation, and food handling procedures
Current Oregon Food Handler’s Certificate or ability to obtain within two weeks

Skills, Abilities & Experience

Covid-19 Vaccination or approved waiver from Human Resources
One year experience in food assembly; high-volume food production preferred
One year experience driving trucks minimum 24 ft. in length preferred
Experience with ovens, knives, sealers, can openers, and rolling racks required
Excellent driving record, insurable by Meals on Wheels People insurance carrier
Ability to understand and communicate basic cooking directions
Basic math and computer skills
Ability to work well with others in a diverse team-oriented atmosphere
