General Summary:
The Cultural Orientation Specialist position will provide vital support to individuals and families from diverse backgrounds as they transition to life in the United States. This role focuses on delivering cultural orientation training to Migration and Refugee Services’ clients to help them better understand and navigate American culture, systems, and daily life. The instructor will utilize culturally responsive teaching methods to promote understanding, self-sufficiency, and integration into their new community. The Cultural Orientation Specialist is a member of the English Language Training team at Migration and Refugee Services and report to the Adult Education Coordinator.
Essential Duties and Tasks:
1. Design and deliver regular cultural orientation to ORR eligible clients.
2. Assess the cultural, educational, and linguistic needs of participants to tailor cultural orientation.
3. Incorporate guest speakers from the community to target specific topics during cultural orientation.
4. Adapt training materials and delivery methods to the linguistic and educational needs of participants.
5. Provide cultural orientations to clients offsite
6. Collaborate closely with other teams within Migration and Refugee Services.
7. Represent the agency at network meetings.
8. Collaborate and build partnerships with community partners.
9. Provide Migration and Refugee Services staff with community resources.
10. Maintain accurate records of participation and progress and provide regular reports regarding the outcomes and impact of cultural orientation programs.
11. All other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
A Bachelor’s degree with experience teaching adults.
Specialized Skills and Knowledge:
· Strong classroom management skills
· Ability to provide high-quality instructions to different English proficiency levels, from literacy to advanced level students.
· Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly in Word and Excel
· Must be able to communicate well verbally and in writing with colleagues, clients, and other community members.
· Must have good organizational and critical thinking skills.
· Must be able to maintain confidentiality of any information encountered.
· Must demonstrate self-confidence, enthusiasm, and initiative.
