Work Schedule: Evenings & Weekends - Per-Diem with the possibility to transition to a Full-Time position
Pay Rate: $25.25 per hour +$1.18 per hour overnight shift differential
Job Summary:
People USA provides people living with mental health and/or addiction issues with the highest quality, effective peer services, and behavioral health care. We are a peer-run nonprofit organization. This means our agency is 100% made up of people with their own lived experience with mental health or substance use issues, recovery, and moving towards wellness. Our mission is to educate, support, and empower people to understand, manage, and overcome behavioral health challenges. The Stabilization Center is a 100% voluntary walk-in hub for people of all ages to connect – 24/7/365 – with an integrated team of behavioral health professionals, peer specialists and registered nurses when they’re experiencing emotional distress, acute psychiatric symptoms, substance use challenges, intoxication, family issues, and other life stressors. Stabilization Center guests have immediate access to crisis counseling and behavioral health assessments, substance use counseling, peer advocacy and support, youth and family counseling, and immediate linkages to other supportive, community-based resources. The Stabilization Center is looking for a Certified Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC or CASAC-T) who will provide direct services to individuals (including youth), and families, including assisting in assessments, treatment plans, and discharge planning.
The CASAC is intended to provide direct clinical care services and substance use disorder counseling, including:
- Crisis de-escalation and intervention
- Assessment and service planning
- Referral; and linkages to treatment
- Substance Use Disorder counseling and education
Job Responsibilities:
- Addresses referrals from community providers, including referrals via warm hand-offs.
- Assists in coordinating services and referrals for guests leaving the Center.
- Provides care collaboration, advocacy, and therapeutic services to guests at the center and their families.
- Works in collaboration with guests, community providers, team members, and external partners.
- Demonstrates cultural competency and commitment to guests.
- Assists in programmatic goals and objectives as per agency contracts.
- Meets programmatic outcomes.
- Demonstrates commitment to the philosophy of the agency and the Center.
- Acts as an advocate and helps guests gain access to resources.
- Provides psychoeducation and counseling on chemical dependency, relapse prevention and harm reduction, including education on safer use kits, test strips and NARCAN.
- Participate in assessment screenings and treatment, safety and discharge planning.
- Ensures the maintenance of accurate, complete, timely, and high-quality guest records and reporting of guest information that comply with external standards and agency policy and procedures.
- Complies with 42 CFR confidentiality and HIPAA privacy and security regulations.
- Works cooperatively with other staff as a member of the interdisciplinary team.
- Provides crisis intervention services.

- Knowledge of electronic medical records.

- Valid driver's license.

- Knowledge and experience working with co-occurring populations.
- Working knowledge of policies and procedures.
- Two years of Experience.
- Certified Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC or CASAC-T).
- High School Diploma.
