We are currently in search of a Staff Accountant for a Foundation. The position is On-site in Washington, DC. This is a full-time, temporary position.

SCHEDULE: Full-time, M to F, 7am to 3:30pm, all onsite
DURATION: Temporary (20+ Business Days)
HOURLY RATE: $25.00 - $29.00
Is This Your Dream Job? The temporary Staff Accountant will take on a number of responsibilities, including reviewing sales tax entries, organizing journal entries, filing AmEx receipts, etc.
Our Ideal Candidate:
- 2-3+ years of accounting experience required
- Proficiency in Excel required
- Quick to learn new applications/software (Shopify, Intacct, etc.)
- Collaborative, reliable, and easy to get along with
- Ability to keep confidential information safe
How You Will Spend Your Day:
· Review sales tax entries: when AvaTax deducts and remits sales taxes from our WF bank a/c, and there are also individual state taxes withdrawn from Citibank. Why are debits not to sales tax payable?
· Review Shopify revenue and Trial Balance, Review the Shopify JE; create yours from scratch, then compare if necessary. There will be corrections needed.
· Items in Intacct/Shopify-prior period recording review/ensuring proper coding/posting: discounts, redemption codes, shipping, taxes.
· Sales and other Revenue reconciliations to date, documenting variations for audit and confirmation/accuracy.
· Updating tracking documents such as consultant hours and grant graph, and historical data.
· Update the investment account reconciliation to date, for confirmation and audit purposes. (Research: Can this be automated in Intacct?)
· Ensure sufficient data is available from iMIS download for audit purposes. Otherwise, we'll need to bring iMIS back online.
· Ensure sufficient data is available from Paychex and in Paycor to support balances for audit purposes.
· Filling/organizing supporting AmEx receipts from January to date.
· Filling/organizing supporting docs for JE from January to date.
