Catholic Charities of Baltimore is currently seeking an Assistant Director, Social Ministry, who will inspire and equip parishes and community partners to bring the vision and integrated social justice ministry to life. Through education, encounter, and engagement, this role fosters meaningful partnerships that translate mission into action. A successful Assistant Director uses their relationship building skills to connect with various audiences, identify opportunities for collaboration, and drive initiatives that advance our common goals of faith, service, and justice. The hybrid work schedule is Monday – Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides vision and leadership for social ministry and ensures the implementation of department fiscal goals and outcomes.
- Develops and maintains positive and productive partnerships with parishes, promoting Catholic Charities, advocacy, volunteerism, and community engagement to expand the reach and impact of our mission.
- Designs, facilitates, and delivers presentations and workshops on Catholic Social Teaching and other social justice topics, helping participants apply principles of faith to real-world community issues.
- Serves as an articulate and enthusiastic advocate for social justice, effectively communicating the connection between faith, service, and social justice.
- Promotes and provides in-depth service-learning experiences for high school and college students, including Serve Baltimore for local high school students and the Alternative Student Break program for college students from across the country, ensuring high-quality, mission-centered engagement opportunities.
- Responsible for experiential learning program for a variety of audiences, including recruitment, scheduling, promoting, and evaluating effective participation, meaningful experiences, and alignment with program objectives.
- Develops and manages the budget for Parish Social Ministry and service-learning programs, facilitating responsible stewardship of resources, alignment with program goals, and compliance with agency fiscal policies.
- Collaborates with the Mission Integration and Engagement team on common goals and projects, supporting unified strategies that strengthen mission impact and community engagement across programs.
- Works in conjunction with the Development and Communications team, to enhance outreach and education about our programs and volunteer opportunities, ensuring consistent messaging, increasing visibility, and improving the understanding of the Agency’s mission across a variety of audiences.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Theology/Religion, Social Work, Non-Profit Management, or related field.
- Three (3) years related experience in human services or parish work.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

- Requires proficiency in using computer systems and software to perform job function, including but not limited to, basic Windows PC, web browsing (i.e., Chrome, Internet Explorer, etc.), and Microsoft Outlook. Knowledge of other Microsoft Office applications, such as Word, Excel PowerPoint, Teams, and OneDrive is preferred.
