Overview:
This position provides facilitation for and support to clients in the upcoming Trades Sampler employment program, funded by the Government of Canada, this program helps youth ages 15 – 30 develop the skills and gain the experience they need to successfully transition into the labour market. These objectives are attained by supporting the needs of all youth, especially youth facing barriers, to develop skills, knowledge and networks through education, skills development, and meaningful work experience. This program features a 20-week Trades program delivered at the Cranbrook campus College of the Rockies.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Facilitation:
- Deliver employment skills workshops in a flexible manner that adjusts both content and approach in response to the needs of each participant for both in-person and virtual delivery where necessary
- Provide individualized coaching and case management support to participants
- Monitor participant attendance, engagement and progress toward employment goals
- Coordinate guest speakers, site tours, or employer visits to enhance learning
- Gather and develop training materials including electronic interactive presentations
- Collaborate with other KES staff and project partners to ensure seamless delivery and that cohort targets (KPI’s) are met or exceeded.

Job Placement
- Contact employers to strategize placement options, using a strengths-based approach to direct market participants
- Direct-marketing specific clients and advocating for workplace accommodation/customization, compensation, working conditions, when necessary
- Work actively with clients to approach employers, this includes making phone calls to employers, negotiating with employers to ‘job carve’ based on a client’s skill set.
- Providing on-the-job coaching for clients when needed
- Track participant outcomes post placement
- Travel within Cranbrook to employer sites is required
- Enter notes on all employer contact into tracking system daily
Program Administration
- Communicate and coordinate with the team and other KES teams to ensure seamless delivery.
- Oversee local participant recruitment and selection
- Create or update program material where needed
- Manage local project record-keeping and reporting
- Manage program intake administration
- Ensuring relevant stakeholders are kept updated on all concerns, issues, and program challenges
- Reporting status of individual KPI target outcomes and highlight areas of concern
Skills and Qualifications:
- A post-secondary certificate, degree or diploma in a related field (career or employment development, vocational rehabilitation, social work, psychology, sociology, human services, counselling, education or human resources management) preferred, or equitable experience and education to execute the functions of the position.
- Valid BC driver’s license and access to a vehicle
- Experience in employment counselling, job development, or trades training preferred.
- A clean criminal record check for the vulnerable sector
- Technical and administrative skills (ex: Proficient with MS Office 365, CRM databases, and virtual communication tools (e.g., Zoom, Teams)

- Strong active listening, motivational, and coaching skills
