GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Facilities Specialist ensures that all ECS4Kids facilities are safe, functional, and well-maintained to support the delivery of high-quality services to children and families. This role performs routine maintenance, repairs, and inspections across multiple sites, contributing to a safe and efficient physical environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform maintenance and repair tasks across Head Start centers, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general building upkeep.
- Conduct routine preventative maintenance to preserve the condition of buildings and playgrounds.
- Monitor building safety systems and provide recommendations to ensure compliance and operational efficiency.
- Complete special projects such as drywall repair, painting, roof and window maintenance, and structural improvements.
- Diagnose issues using blueprints, manuals, and diagnostic tools; determine appropriate solutions.
- Source and obtain necessary supplies and parts from approved vendors.
- Operate hand and power tools, including drills, saws, wrenches, and testing devices.
- Secure permits and approvals as required by law for specific projects.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, costs, and repairs.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Facilities Coordinator.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma/GED required
- Completion of training programs in multiple trades preferred.
- 3 years of related experience (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry)
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of OSHA and safety standards.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple sites.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data entry systems.
- Professional demeanor and ability to work diplomatically with the public and staff.
CERTIFICATIONS:
- Current First Aid and Pediatric Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training
- Minimum 15 hours in-service training completed annually
- Valid driver’s license with proof of automobile coverage
- Satisfactory Driving Record (as outlined in Vehicle Driving Policy)
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
- Regular work in both office and childcare settings, including indoor & outdoor locations
- Tolerance for noise and high activity levels
- Extensive travel across multiple counties
- Occasional evening and weekend work may be required
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL SKILLS:
- Requires?physical activities?that require full-body movement, including:
- Climbing ladders and stairs
- Lifting and carrying heavy materials (up to?100 lbs.)
- Balancing, walking, stooping, kneeling, and crouching
- Operating hand and power tools and safety equipment
- Requires?manual dexterity?and?eye-hand coordination?sufficient to operate tools, computers, and electronic systems.
- Must have?acceptable eyesight and hearing?(with or without correction) to perform inspections, communicate effectively, and respond to safety alerts.
