Children and Young Person's Advocate

We are looking for a passionate, creative, and resilient Children’s
Advocate to join our dynamic advocacy team. This role is all about making sure
children and young people’s voices are heard, their rights are upheld, and
their wishes and feelings are central to the decisions that affect their lives.
As a Children’s Advocate, you will stand alongside children and young
people in care, in health or social care processes, or in need of additional
support. You will empower them to speak up, or you will represent their views
when they cannot.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide
independent advocacy for children and young people in care, on child
protection or child in need, care leavers and those accessing health or
social care services.
- Empower Children
and young people to express their wishes, feelings, and views in decisions
that impact their lives.
- Ensure
children’s voices are central in meetings, assessments, and reviews.
- Represent
children’s views accurately and faithfully when they cannot speak up for
themselves.
- Work
creatively with children and young people, using age-appropriate and
accessible methods of communication.
Essential Criteria
- Knowledge of
children’s rights, safeguarding, and participation.
- Experience
of working directly with children and young people.
- Strong
listening and communication skills.
- Ability to
remain impartial, independent, and child centred.
- Good
organisational and record keeping skills.
- Commitment
to safeguarding
