Our client, Coquí Power LLC, is looking for a Project Manager.
Overview:
Coqui Power LLC ("Coquí Power") is a Puerto Rico-based development firm focused on generation, capacity, and transmission infrastructure assets. Our mission is to accelerate the deployment of critical U.S. energy infrastructure while prioritizing the use of domestically manufactured products to strengthen U.S. energy security.
From early-stage development through full project lifecycle, Coquí Power integrates project origination, development, finance, and asset management capabilities. Our growing portfolio of solar and storage projects is designed to transform Puerto Rico's energy landscape by addressing the Island's urgent need for reliable, affordable, clean power, benefiting Puerto Rico's economy and some of the lowest-income ratepayers in the U.S.
The Role:
We are seeking a Project Manager to oversee the development and delivery of utility-scale solar and energy storage projects across Puerto Rico. Reporting to the Senior Project Engineer, you will manage all phases of project execution - from design and permitting through procurement, construction, and commissioning - ensuring each project is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest technical and quality standards.
The role requires exceptional organizational and coordination skills to align internal teams, contractors, government agencies, and community stakeholders toward shared project goals. The ideal candidate will have experience managing large-scale energy generation and storage projects and a proven ability to deliver results in complex, fast-paced environments.
This is a remote, Puerto Ricobased position that requires regular travel to project sites across the Island as needed.
Responsibilities:
-
Support all phases of project development and execution, including defining scope, objectives, milestones, and deliverables to ensure alignment across all internal and external stakeholders
-
Manage the full engineering, procurement, and construction lifecycle from conceptual design through commissioning, ensuring quality, safety, and technical excellence
-
Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, budgets, and cost forecasts; track performance using earned value management and other project control tools
-
Oversee contractor and supplier performance, negotiate change orders, and ensure compliance with contract terms, budgets, and technical specifications
-
Ensure projects meet all permitting, environmental, and safety standards in accordance with local and federal regulations
-
Identify, assess, and proactively mitigate project risks related to schedule, cost, technical performance, and regulatory compliance
-
Serve as a reliable point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, including government agencies, utilities, contractors, and community representatives
-
Coordinate cross-functional and multidisciplinary teams, fostering collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement
-
Prepare and deliver progress reports, dashboards, and executive updates for internal leadership and external stakeholders
-
Drive lessons-learned processes and apply best practices to enhance project delivery efficiency and effectiveness
Qualifications:
-
Bachelors degree in engineering, construction management, or a related technical field required; advanced degree preferred
-
Minimum of five years of experience managing engineering or construction projects for utility-scale energy generation and storage facilities
-
Proven track record overseeing the full project lifecycle, including planning, design, permitting, procurement, construction, commissioning, and O&M transition
-
Strong proficiency in project controls, including scheduling, cost estimating, budgeting, financial tracking, contracting, performance evaluation, and risk management
-
Advanced command of project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6, Power BI, etc.)
-
Hands-on experience with renewable generation and energy storage technologies (preferably utility-scale solar and storage); exposure to thermal or natural gas projects is a plus
-
Deep understanding of safety protocols, environmental regulations, and quality assurance standards
-
Exceptional organizational and coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple large-scale projects and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
-
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with fluency in both English and Spanish required to support effective cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder engagement
-
Demonstrated success building and managing relationships with government agencies, utilities, contractors, and independent system operators
