Student Affairs seeks an experienced and talented Director of Well-Being Strategy & Initiatives to join our team. The Director will provide strategy, vision and direction regarding issues and objectives related to student mental health and well-being and community flourishing; lead complex, high-visibility process innovation projects through a public health approach in the area of mental health and well-being with a focus on undergraduate and graduate student populations; liaise with Student Affairs and Vaden senior management, VPSA functional units, academic schools, and other partners to implement vision and strategy; lead the development of new pilot initiatives and manage the work of other employees until permanent organizational decisions are made to support ongoing operation of successful initiatives. The Director reports to the associate vice provost (AVP) for health and well-being in the Division of Student Affairs and serves as a member of the AVP27s senior leadership team.
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Bachelor27s degree and ten years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience. Experience in higher education setting strongly preferred.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Advanced degree in public health, health promotion, health policy, psychology, health education, social work or related field with 5 years of relevant experience.
- Minimum 5 years of full-time supervisory experience of professional staff and a demonstrated record of leading professional development for staff.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- User knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong analytical skills to review and analyze complex financial information.
- Demonstrated experience managing people.
- Understanding of underlying technological needs and requirements.
- Leadership and expertise in the use of evidence-based health promotion programs/initiatives to analyze health promotion needs of emerging adults, especially college students; experience conducting literature reviews, needs assessments, program evaluations, and creating plans to strategically guide programmatic and budget decisions.
- Knowledge and application of health promotion, behavior change, population-based theories and models, and experience using environmental management strategies/ecological model
- Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external constituencies, demonstrate commitment to diversity, social justice, and cultural competence.
- Ability to work in a multicultural environment and the ability to foster cultural, racial, gender equality on a personnel and programmatic level.
- Excellent writing, interpersonal communication and organizational skills
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends and to adjust work assignments according to programmatic and divisional needs.
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, set priorities, and meet deadlines required.
