Job Description
As an Infant/Toddler Teacher, you will help provide a safe and nurturing environment for children ranging from age 3 months to 3 years. You'l be responsible for planning, organizing, and facilitating the infant/toddler program and engage in playful activities that encourage development in the classroom.
Qualifications
To be an Infant/Toddler Teacher at any one of our 6 early learning centers, you must present a valid EEC infant/toddler certification. If you are new to teaching and do not have a certification, you can be brought onboard as a Teacher Assistant and the YMCA will support and guide you through the Early Childhood Development course to become a certified infant/toddler teacher. You must also pass an extensive background check through EEC and commit to completing the required education and training to obtain a teacher certification within 12 months of employment.
Essential Functions
- Teach children about their bodies, emotions, and relationships by modeling and interacting with them.
- Supervise children during outdoor playtime.
- Answer parents' questions about their children's progress.
- Ensure all documentation is forwarded to EHS/HS Education Director and/or human resources.
- Monitor, evaluate and provide training of classroom volunteers.
- Attend case management meetings, consultations, and staff meetings as necessary.
- Observe children and provide suggestions for behavior management and education programming to meet the individual needs of all children.
