Job Description
The Regional Director of Camp oversees the strategic and operational success of camp programs with a revenue of $1M or more across multiple YMCA sites, including day camp programming. This role ensures delivery of high-quality, mission-driven programming aligned with safety standards, community needs, and youth development outcomes. The Regional Director supports seasonal site operations, supervises camp leadership teams, and collaborates with cross‑functional partners to deliver exceptional camper experiences.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in education, recreation, youth development, or a related field or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in program management, including supervising staff and managing budgets.
- Proven ability to lead and develop high‑performing teams across multiple locations.
- Strong knowledge of program development, evaluation, and community needs assessment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Experience in partnership building with schools, community organizations, and businesses.
- Strong financial management skills, including budget development and monitoring.
- Familiarity with YMCA programs, policies, and branding standards is preferred.
- Proficiency in data analysis and reporting to drive decision‑making and continuous improvement.
- Flexibility to travel within the region and work evenings or weekends as needed.
- All YMCA team members are expected to maintain a current and active status for all safety, risk, and programming certifications defined by the YMCA of Greater Charlotte.
Essential Functions
Strategic Leadership
- Lead the strategic execution of camp programs across multiple branches, ensuring alignment with YMCA mission, standards, and association‑wide priorities.
- Guide seasonal and long‑term camp planning efforts to meet community needs and association objectives.
Team Leadership
- Provide direct supervision and coaching to camp directors, seasonal leads, and support staff across multiple sites.
- Recruit, train, and retain high‑performing teams to ensure continuity and excellence in program delivery.
Program Development and Management
- Oversee development of engaging, outcomes‑based day camp programs.
- Maintain program quality and safety by ensuring compliance, YMCA best practices, and licensing standards.
Community Engagement and Collaborations
- Represent YMCA camping in local coalitions, community initiatives, and with parent/family groups.
- Support and attend special camp events, parent nights, and seasonal showcases to strengthen community ties.
Operational Excellence
- Manage regional camp budgets, enrollment forecasts, and staffing plans to achieve revenue and cost targets.
- Monitor camp outcomes, safety data, and feedback to improve program quality and participant experience.
Performs other duties and tasks as assigned by leadership.
