About the Role:
As Deputy CTO, you will drive operational excellence within the TechLab, ensuring timely delivery of innovative solutions and fostering a high-performance culture. Partnering with the CTO, you will oversee resource allocation, project management, and team development, with a focus on open-source principles and community engagement. This role demands a strong leader with extensive software development expertise and a passion for advancing digital democracy.
Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Team Development:
- Recruit, onboard, and mentor a high-performing team.
- Promote best practices, continuous learning, and innovation.
Software Development Oversight:
- Manage all phases of the software lifecycle to deliver high-quality products on schedule.
- Ensure projects meet stakeholder expectations while balancing team workload.
Knowledge Management and Advocacy:
- Maintain comprehensive documentation and share insights with the civic tech community.
- Foster collaboration across teams to drive innovative solutions.
Partnership Engagement:
- Build strong client relationships and tailor solutions to meet their needs.
- Negotiate and implement technology agreements effectively.
Administrative Duties:
- Manage time effectively across multiple projects.
- Provide guidance and support to direct reports.

Key Qualifications:

Minimum of 5+ years’ experience in software development.
Proven leadership in technology operations and team management.
Strong commitment to open-source principles and community engagement.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Reports To: Chief Technology Officer (CTO)
Manages: Engineering Manager, Design Manager, Product Manager, Security Manager
