$30.43/hour (inclusive of funding

expertise for immigrants, newcomers, early learning and development, Family
Justice Service, Career and Labour market integration through programs such as
Supervised Access, EarlyOn Child & Family Centres, Welcome Centre for
Immigrant Services-Newmarket and several Before & After School and Licensed
Childcare Programs.
The
Opportunity
The School Age Supervisor will directly support
the implementation of the Before and After School Program. The Program
Supervisor will perform on-site supervision of program staff and volunteers;
facilitate various activities that promote physical activity, healthy eating
and nutrition, positive personal development and wellness; and to engage and
support school aged children and families in our community.
Key Job Responsibilities:
·Provide
direction and administration to the After School Program operations &
programs, ensuring that appropriate policies, procedures, and methods are being
utilized.
·Ensure
the provision of a caring, stimulating and inclusive environment for the
children and youth attending the program.
·Demonstrate
a deep understanding of How does Learning Happen? to plan and adapt program
that fosters Belonging, Well Being, Engagement and Expression.
·Facilitate
a variety of physical activities aimed at engaging students in fun,
recreational and life-long learning objectives.
·Ensure
adequate supervision at all times by maintaining appropriate staff/children
ratios and effective scheduling of staff.
·Develop
and administer appropriate strategies to support children in managing their
behaviour.
·Ensure
that the health and safety needs of the children are met and all health and
safety issues are dealt with immediately and appropriately including proper administering
of first aid.
·Plan,
coordinate and provide a healthy snack to all participants within the program
guidelines accommodating all dietary restrictions.
·Respond
to the individual needs of children and establish stable and consistent
relationships with each child and their families/caregivers while maintaining
confidentiality as appropriate.
·Build
and maintain relationships with school administrators, teachers, students,
community partners and the public.
·Supervise
the cleanliness of the facility and ensure good and working order and safe
storage of equipment.
·Deliver
ongoing coaching, mentoring, feedback and annual employee performance reviews
as required.
·Maintain
all required records, forms and reports as required.
·Report
on a regular basis to Manager or Director regarding issues of need and/or
concern.
·Communicates
the mission, values and operating principles of the organization to employees,
and other stakeholders.
Candidate Profile:
·Current
Registration with the College of ECE (RECE).
·2
years’ experience in a Supervisory position in a Childcare. Before and After School program experience is
an asset.
·Strong working knowledge of child
development theories and practices, relevant legislation, policies and
procedures.
·Strong
verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills that allow one to work
effectively in a diverse working environment. with all levels of staff, the
public and program participants
·Good
organizational, problem solving, time management and prioritization skills.
·Demonstrated
experience with MS 365 and Excel with the ability to prepare and write
reports/records and maintain same
·Strong
morals and ethics, sound judgement and reasoning skills, along with a
commitment to discretion and staff privacy.
·Ability
to work as a team member in a dynamic, complex environment.
·Ability
to effectively perform job duties with minimum supervision.
·Ability
to perform the physical requirements of the job including frequent standing,
walking bending, kneeling, crouching or crawling.
Oher:
·Current
Standard First Aid and Level C CPR Certification.
·Current
Vulnerable Sector Screen.
·Up
to date immunizations including a Tuberculosis (TB) test.
·Valid
Driver’s License, reliable transportation.
