BASIC RESPONSIBILITY:
The Direct Support/Community Worker will be responsible for interacting with and providing a safe environment, including social and community support activities, to the participants served.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
1. Develops and implements direct instruction plan for participants in the Supported Employment Program, including specific training and adjustment to their work environments.
2. Is available to participants, families and employers for feedback, updates, problem solving and crisis intervention.
3. Maintains all on-the-job records. Evaluates instructional plan and monthly progress, making revisions whenever necessary. Obtains information from employer on job performance.
4. Develops adaptive methods of training and instruction based on the participant’s needs.
5. Works with employers to fully integrate participants into the work environment, including modification of standard training and instruction, building relationships with co-workers, and adjusting to the workplace.
6. Train participants to use public transit.
7. Participates in case reviews and goal planning for each worker.
8. Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
General:
· Must be at least 21 years of age
· Must pass a criminal background check
· Must have a current California driver’s license with a good driving record
· Can lift a minimum of 45lbs.
· Strong communication, teambuilding and leadership skills
· Willingness to learn and be flexible
· Knowledgeable of Microsoft Office Suite, Powerpoint and Excel.
· Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

· Active and reflective listening—Facilitators use active listening throughout the planning process, giving their full attention, using body language and responses that demonstrate their consideration and understanding of what the speaker is communicating. The goal of active listening is to ensure the speaker feels heard and understood. Staff use reflective listening, paying special attention to the content, feelings, and meaning behind the message and reflecting back to the speaker to demonstrate understanding and clarify the message. The purpose of reflective listening is to act as a mirror or reflection of the speaker to optimize their communication.
· Understanding of living best life—Living one’s best life is subjective and involves reaching targeted levels of growth, leading to taking actions that help the person discover and hone their interests, talents, and passions. The facilitator supports the person to articulate what his or her best life looks like, and to tailor their plan to fit their ideal.
Education:
· Must have a high school diploma or GED
· Have and maintain current Red Cross First Aid Certificate and CPR Certificate.
· Fluent in speaking, reading, and writing in English; Spanish, preferred.
Experience:
· Minimum of 6 months of experience preferred
SCHEDULE AND COMPENSATION:
· Monday – Friday 8:00am – 4:30pm. Some weekends or evening as needed for special events/community events
· 403B available with employer 4% provided after employee puts in 6%
