The Director will provide operational process and project management support to the Government Partnerships Team and the SVP, Government Partnerships. We are seeking a utility player who can manage daily operations in addition to leading special projects and can work in ambiguity to solve problems and create opportunities. This will include project management, team enablement and support, communications, budget and workplan support, network group coordination, and special projects in support of United Way Worldwide’s mission and the Government Partnerships Team.
This role will serve as a point of contact and liaison between Government Partnerships and other teams at United Way Worldwide and serve as a resource to staff in the resolution of complex issues and operational questions as they arise.
In addition to overall team strategy and management functions, this position will take on special projects, and potentially managing new programs. The Government Partnerships Team currently manages United Way’s expanding Community Resilience Program. This will include work on a new program focused on digital equity, and scoping out opportunities in this space but may expand to include other program areas.
Reporting to the SVP, Government Partnerships, this person will partner across UWW teams and Network groups to help drive United Way Worldwide's mission to improve lives by mobilizing the caring power of communities around the world.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ESSENTIAL DUTIES OF POSITION
The Director will:
- Manage the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control, and completion of key team projects ensuring alignment with organizational strategy and goals.
- Partner with department leadership to establish long term planning, goal tracking and prioritization mechanisms.
- Create materials for the SVP, Government Partnerships and other department leaders, including PowerPoint slides, memos, and talking points.
- Track and monitor operational plans and budgets aligned with Government Partnerships strategy and provide summary analysis as requested.
- Facilitate coordination between Government Partnerships and other United Way Worldwide teams.
- Work with communications team to ensure transparency and timely communication within UWW and in the Network, articulating United Way’s brand value, mission and vision and its unique positioning to solve some of the most critical challenges that impact the communities we serve.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Minimum requirements include:
- Bachelor’s degree or commensurate experience.
- At least five years of progressive experience in a similar role.
- Passion and commitment to United Way’s mission and values.
- Ability to interact with all levels of staff.
- Demonstrated project and program management skills. Project management credentials a plus.
- Exceptional writing, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated research skills, possess a strong work ethic, enjoy working collaboratively, and be capable of working independently.
- Ability to inspire and move a cross-functional team in a unified direction and with a unified vision.
- Comfort working in an executive, fast-paced office.
- Strong Microsoft Suite skills.
