The Personal Care Attendant is responsible for seeing to the personal care needs of participants in the Adult Day Training (ADT) program, including taking them to the restroom, changing clothing and undergarments if needed, preparation of lunches, help in feeding if needed, and assisting with medication distribution.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Must be 18 years of age
- Must have a high school diploma or its equivalent
- Must have at least one year of experience working with adults with developmental and/or intellectual disabilities
- Must complete all required training as outlined by DDID regulations, including first aid and CPR certification
- Must be able to read, understand and implement written and oral instructions
- Must pass a criminal background check
- Must pass pre-employment and random drug testing
- Must have a valid driver's license, good driving record, and proof of auto insurance
Responsibilities:
- Performs personal care for all participants as directed by the Participant Summary, caregiver’s request, staff’s request and participant’s request, as needed.
- Documents all personal care in the electric medical records system, Oasis, every day.
- Assist participants in the restrooms and with personal hygiene when necessary.
- Assist with administering medications at appropriate time(s); notifies management of any medication error.
- Relieves ADT staff for breaks, as needed.
- Assists in preparing lunches for all participants, as needed.
- Keeps kitchen, work areas and ADT areas clean daily.
- Works with individuals regarding their behavior issues and productivity.
- Supports and works with each individual to improve the quality, quantity and consistency of their work in the ADT area.
- Tracks individual goals and write daily notes for participants with individual goals on appropriate forms. Write monthly summaries when needed.
- Maintains absentee log and record in/out time for participants daily on the Daily Attendance Sheet.
- Assists with supervising participant groups in ADT, as needed.
- Contributes to the development of enriching activities for individuals supported.
