this is a part time role of around 10 hours per week, working Monday to Friday between 8.30-10.30am. This position may grow in scope overtime. Candidates must be able to work in compatibility with US East Coast Working times. We anticipate hiring a candidate based within the US, but are open to considering candidates outside of the US.

Sentient is the only non-profit, nonpartisan news outlet dedicated to one of the most underreported and misrepresented topics of our time: industrial animal agriculture. We publish rigorous solutions stories, accountability journalism, disinformation debunking and fact-checked explainers.
Position Overview:
This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing newsroom and support our editorial team in delivering coverage which helps to explain the effects of factory farming on climate, health, animals, politics and much more.
As a Production Coordinator for our newsroom team, you will play an integral role in ensuring our content is published online and is made accessible to our audiences. The Production Coordinator will ensure our news stories are uploaded and published through our CMS system, and will update the homepage to display our latest articles. The Production Coordinator will also load content to our newsletter platform, and schedule newsletter content to reach our audiences. Additionally, the Production Coordinator will coordinate image selection activity to accompany our published articles.
This role may be a fit for you if you have prior understanding of the newsroom environment and have had prior experience of uploading, updating and scheduling content for delivery through online channels and digital outreach. We also appreciate candidates who are excited about helping to bring journalistic content around the impacts of factory farming to the public, and who are able to apply high attention to detail to ensure accuracy in the delivery of our editorial teams work through digital channels.
To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate your prior experience in, and ability to work with CMS and newsletter platforms, uploading, updating and scheduling content. Additionally, to be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate prior experience with image selection, and knowledge of licensing content and developing alt text and image data.
Over time, the Production Coordinator may be able to take on additional responsibilities and hours subject to Sentient’s needs and projects and the final candidates availability.
Primary Responsibilities and Duties
CMS Management
Oversee CMS (wordpress) platform, uploading and updating content as required daily
Updating the Sentient homepage and other site pages in line with editorial strategy
Providing the Sentient team with insights based on website analytics
Newsletter
Loading content to the weekly newsletter platform (mailchimp)
Scheduling newsletter content
Providing the Sentient team with insights based on newsletter analytics
Image Selection
Coordinate image selection to ensure published content is accompanied by strong visuals
Navigate image copyrights and licensing for images used to accompany content
Manage creation of alt text and image data
Manage image library and ensure image libraries are maintained
Requirements
Desired skills and experience
Prior experience in updating website content and newsletter content, as well as scheduling the release of the content is required,
Prior experience in a newsroom environment would be advantageous,
Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail,

Benefits
Sentient is able to offer an hourly rate of $20-$25 per hour.
