This is a remote position.
Under the direction of the Development Manager, the Grants Writer works to leverage public and private funding opportunities for Community Passageways (CP) through prospecting, proposal writing, and grants management. The Grants Writer prepares and submits grant proposals to federal, state, and local agencies and private foundations. Work is performed in collaboration with Community Passageways’ leadership, development, finance, and program staff.
Requirements
Grant Writing:
- Compile, write, and edit grant applications, ensuring the highest standards of quality and meeting all funder requirements.
- Write and submit letters of inquiry, concept papers, and grant proposals to federal, state, and city/county government agencies, private foundations, and corporate donors.
- Research and assess funding opportunities from federal, state, and city/county government agencies, foundations, corporations, and other philanthropic institutions for current and future programs, projects, and services.
- Research and collect data to support the need statement, objectives, and proposal evaluation criteria.
- Coordinate grant funding research to ensure comprehensive and strategic development of projects that serve program development.
- Analyze public and philanthropic policy and trends, including emerging issues impacting CP’s services and programs.
- Track government policies and priorities to identify areas of alignment with CP.
Grants Management:
- Maintain CP’s proposal calendar.
- Maintain grants management tracking and regularly update the CP executive team with accurate data.
- Manage a library of supporting documents in readiness to submit to prospective funders in the grant writing process.
- Maintain accurate and detailed electronic contract and grant files for each funded program; maintain a database on funding source contacts, activity, and status.
- Prepare related communications for the executive team and Board of Directors
- Maintain an understanding of CP policies and procedures for grant preparation, review, and submission.
- Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications in Education & Work Experience:
- Certification or continuing education in grant writing, proposal development, and fundraising is a strong plus.
- Knowledge of social justice issues and related social policy matters preferred.
- Demonstrated record of developing successful grant proposals for governmental agencies and private foundations.
- At least three years of professional experience in grant writing/fundraising is preferred.
- Experience with budgeting, data management, research protocol, and compliance requirements.
Essential Skills & Competencies:
- Strong writing, analytical skills, and attention to detail are critical to this role.
- Proficiency in managing multiple, complex timelines for self and others (staff, partners, potential collaborators, etc.) to meet deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well within a team.
- Aptitude in Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel, Outlook.
- Fluency in written and spoken English.
