An established non-profit organisation (NPO) seeks an experienced part-time Clinical Psychologist / Counsellor for weekly sessions every Tuesday. This is an independent contract for 7- 8 hours a week.
The suitable individual will play a crucial role in ensuring providing pre- and post-operative counselling for patients.
Responsibilities:
Direct interventions:
- Prepare patients and parents for what to expect before, during and after the surgery.
- Identify psychologically vulnerable patients and offer support and counselling to these people in a more structured, individual way.
- Offer ongoing psychological support during the week, to patients and parents.
- Establish relationships with “new” patients and parents.
- Continue to build and maintain professional relationships with surgeons and other medical personnel.
- Maintain good relationships with the staff of the paediatric ward.
- Convening and facilitating monthly support group meetings.
Administrative Responsibilities:
- Attend monthly meetings with the COO.
- Prepare monthly provision of Psychological Record Form (to be forwarded to COO) detailing the number of patients and specific psychological interventions undertaken. This report is to be forwarded to the COO by the last day of each month.
Requirements
- Registered Psychologist
- Experience in clinical/counselling psychology
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently
